Does magic exist in your world? What is it like, and how do others view those who use it? If not, is there something similar to it where you are from?

With so many of us coming from different worlds, it would be a good idea for us to pool our knowledge and resources to figure things out. The rules might not be the same here, but having a base to start from is better than nothing at all, wouldn't you agree?

Magic does exist in my world. Some schools of magic are held in higher regard than others- but I'd also say it depended on which part of the land you were in.

That would be useful- the more so if we could find some similarities, I should think.

I'd say history, ease of access, and the degree to which the school is seen to benefit those around them. Conjury, for example, is particularly sought after, as many healers study that school.

The ones you'd be most likely to run into would be those taught in the southern city-states- thaumaturgy and arcanamia, in other words. There are also the astrologians- largely in Sharlayan, though I understand Ishgard studies the stars as well. There are also older forms- black magic, white magic, summoning and schloars who may draw on more potent sources.

What of your own world?
