PLATONIC FRIENDS NEEDED!

recently my truest friend has been summoned from the mirrors but for now he lacks platonic friends to spend time with. he has been living a solitary life as a king and i do not want him to be alone anymore.

his name is gilgamesh. he is very fond of his treasures and also knows the greatest stories about them. he enjoys wine as well. he is great to spar with and likes to go on adventures. his favorite color is gold. once he introduced me to beer and bread and allowed me to eat and drink everything i wanted.

would people like to become his platonic friend? or another sort of friend? as i know that many sorts of friendships are possible.

let me know if you have questions or want to meet him. he can be a bit fussy at first but please do not let it get to you. he has been alone. for a long time.

i must be fair, i cannot answer that question either. perhaps because he prefers a maiden to look like you. or maybe he agreed to the words you have been saying.

perhaps he is finally ready to marry another.

how will i know that it is love then? so if i express a wish to never want to leave his side it is because of love. because i like to stay at his side. his presence makes me very happy.

i cannot say that i have been either. love is a very human emotion, not?

it is odd. there are so many stories about humans who seek immortality. but i never understood the appeal. to live long enough to witness the death of every one you like.

i cannot blame that person for changing over those years.

It may be good that he's refused. You and I have already had the hard lesson of how this place changes us.

It may be better for him to know he needs to work with the world, in order to reshape it into a pleasing image.

Being in my head now compared to before the changes took a deeper hold is very different at times, as much as I hate to admit.

Besides, this Bishop is not a Servant, and mercenary has somewhat better connotations. Even a strong kingdom such as Uruk (or Gilgamesh's dreams of some future paradisical Uruk) might need allies, and thus, soldiers for hire. ]

Hm, and does that job suit you, Bishop?

[ not just everyone could work such an occupation, after all. it would presumably take a certain sort of grit. ]

One wonders how such a skill might be transferable here.

To me, as King, it seems that all, great and small, must have some talent. That is what it means to oversee a city-state. Perhaps yours shall be meaningful to the conflict at hand.

Once again, to speak of such nonsense, Enkidu! [ he clarifies, of course: ] Legends do not part! So long as those exist to remember us, we are always together, until the end of time and memory. There is no separation when you have the foundation to always return to, my friend.

[ Gil is a Big Picture Thinker in that sense. even after millennia of literal separation. ]

I don't think it's necessarily restricted to humans or anyone like me.

You seem like you'd be capable of it, too. I think staying by someone's side is it, too, though.

It seems a difficult balance to strike when you've no choice but to keep living, between changing and staying the same. I have my own thoughts about that, but seeing as I'm no immortal, it's probably not worth much.

Because of him... I hope that does not mean if he were taken away for some reason, you would not see fit to any longer. Even if you are a weapon created by the gods, you clearly have your own decisions to make.

I believe this profession found me rather than me seek it. I come from a world bathed in fires of war and as a mercenary, I can offer my skills to those who need it for a price I see fit.

[It makes sense; if Gilgamesh were sociable and easy to get along with, his good friend wouldn't be wingmanning his friendship possibilities so diligently. Stands to reason that if he's not shy, he's a bit abrasive. Which is fine! Papyrus has dealt with bluntness before! It's no real obstacle.

But, other things are a little more challenging.]

As for my Underworld... Well, it's a very small underworld. More of an underground, packed under a single mountain... Full of way more varied monsters than you'll find here. Like ghosts! And skeletons! And literal gold currency.

[He still hasn't seen any ghosts, here, despite looking. And monsters are so limited to a few varieties, it seems to him. Where are the slimes? The frogs? The miniature volcanoes? Are they all mutated by the Cwyld, or was it always this limited?]
