recently my truest friend has been summoned from the mirrors but for now he lacks platonic friends to spend time with. he has been living a solitary life as a king and i do not want him to be alone anymore.

his name is gilgamesh. he is very fond of his treasures and also knows the greatest stories about them. he enjoys wine as well. he is great to spar with and likes to go on adventures. his favorite color is gold. once he introduced me to beer and bread and allowed me to eat and drink everything i wanted.

would people like to become his platonic friend? or another sort of friend? as i know that many sorts of friendships are possible.

let me know if you have questions or want to meet him. he can be a bit fussy at first but please do not let it get to you. he has been alone. for a long time.

I am called Bishop, your majesty. A former soldier, now a...mercenary.

[Hitman or assassin would be more accurate. But mercenaries get paid to do some unsavory things too so, his definition isn't too far off.]

[ To Gilgamesh, Assassins are the lowest Servant class... but even he would not feel it necessary to be rude to someone who had finally granted him proper respect. Besides, this Bishop is not a Servant, and mercenary has somewhat better connotations. Even a strong kingdom such as Uruk (or Gilgamesh's dreams of some future paradisical Uruk) might need allies, and thus, soldiers for hire. ]

Hm, and does that job suit you, Bishop?

[ not just everyone could work such an occupation, after all. it would presumably take a certain sort of grit. ]

One wonders how such a skill might be transferable here.

[ no doubt there were clients aplenty, but would the man be paid to fight the enemy beyond the gates or to deal with another sort of foe? ]

To me, as King, it seems that all, great and small, must have some talent. That is what it means to oversee a city-state. Perhaps yours shall be meaningful to the conflict at hand.

I believe this profession found me rather than me seek it. I come from a world bathed in fires of war and as a mercenary, I can offer my skills to those who need it for a price I see fit.

[A price which is usually next to nothing for those who actually need him. He has more than enough money from his time as a special agent.]

I am able to follow my values and still earn enough to see tomorrow, but your words have given me much to ponder. Hopefully I shall find a way to translate myself here.
