[It is coming up to Sora’s third month in this world so his monster changes are well underway. Unfortunately, the one that Sora woke up to this morning had him yelling at himself so loud when he saw a mirror that he fell backwards and nearly clonked his own head on the bathtub.

He might need a little help with this one...]

Umm. Hi! I’m Sora. I’m a puca in case you were wondering what’s up with the big giant ears.

[The stream shows a brunette boy with long matching brown-coloured rabbit ears. He’s smiling but there’s some obvious worry in the tilt of his head. Furthermore, Sora’s eyes seem to be a sharp and glowing gold. Weren’t they a nice ocean blue before?]

I was wondering if anyone had any sort of spell or charm or potion that can change my eye colour? Hmm, I don’t mean anything that will wear off overnight or something?

[Sora’s not really comfortable with the idea of having naturally yellow or gold eyes. There’s a little bit of trauma backstory attached to that. Yikes.]

I think I need something a little more permanent. Is there anything that can change my eyes back to blue? Anything at all? Please?

[Is there even anything that can change or mask something like this? Is there any way for Sora to reverse just this one monster trait? He’s fine with rabbit ears! And a vegetarian diet (goodbye bacon…)! And even getting itchy fur and a cottontail! But gold eyes? Say it ain’t so!

What if he just wears a blindfold for the rest of his life...]

Ummm. Yeah, definitely not used to it. I think they're pretty too just not on me? I don't know if I can get used to it!

In the event you can't get a permanent change, what will you do? You might have to live with it. I mean, they look fine on Vanitas, and the two of you look almost identical, right?

...Not that I can blame you about dissatisfaction over changes, though. I miss my body heat.

Of course. He's one of my housemates, and a friend besides, even if he seems to still be adjusting to the whole "friend" thing.

And he doesn't look all that different from you, full stop. Especially with the eye color. Are you related or something?

[Sora must have missed her the last few times he was there. Sora does seem to favor going in through the window rather than the front door, though.]

Heh, he might think it but it'll be like pulling teeth to get him to say it out loud. I'm glad you two are friends!

But...! No, we're not related. Not at all! It's kind of a long story why we look so much like each other. Sometime after we were both born our hearts connected. He's had the gold eyes for a long time but that's because of his darkness. I don't have as much as he does.

[And Sora getting gold eyes is a little more traumatic.]

But you're probably right. I won't be able to change them now.

I'm happy to rub it right in for him if that's the case.

[She looks pretty proud of that, actually. Definitely an annoying-but-cool big sis sort of thing.]

He did mention that a little bit, that he was all darkness where most people have a little bit of both. But I assume it's only a cosmetic change for you, right? It doesn't signify any internal changes... I hope.

Though... perhaps it might be easier to just say you are related and leave it at that? It sounds like a complicated story.

[There's something that always tickles his heartstrings when he finds someone who seems truly and genuinely fond of Vanitas. He's so happy to be meeting her.]

Make sure you rub it in as much as you can. [Heh.]

Yeah, I guess we have different opinions on that one. He might be a whole lot of darkness but I think there's room for more in him.

[After all, if she knows him she'll know there is some light to Vanitas' personality. Sometimes.]

But! I really don't want people to think we're brothers or anything either! It's weird!

My opinion on the matter is that these things are generally in a state of flux. Everyone has the capacity to grow, no matter the direction. The same way villains in faerie tales have their dramatic descent into madness, Vanitas might have his own slow ascent to something a bit more well-rounded.

Are you not brothers, though, if not by blood? Isn't connecting your hearts kind of like that on a spiritual level?

[Ah, the lovely worldbuilding dynamics of Square-Enix games...]

[This girl. He really likes this girl.]

That's exactly what I mean! So even if he likes to tell everyone he's all darkness and all! I don't think anyone is done growing. I don't think hearts can be all of one thing or another.

[But then he flusters a little as she persists with the brother thing.]

Ermm... But I guess you could see that part in that way. We're connected, beyond our bond too. But I still like to think he's more my friend than my brother. He's just as important to me, though.

Fair enough, then. It does make a difference, doesn't it?

I'll be sure to keep watching over him. He's definitely not as difficult to get along with as he likes to think he is.

At any rate, if you're his friend, you're welcome around the house anytime. And, hey, if I come across any permanent cosmetic alteration methods, I'll be sure to let you know. Even if it seems outlandish, there may yet be something we're not aware of.

I'm really hoping there's gotta be something out there that can help me out. In a big magical city like this one it's hard to believe there wouldn't be! So I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
