Hey.

[That’s it. One word. Dylas’ voice is low, like usual, but there’s something unsteady about it. Maybe it’s nerves from using the pocketwatch, a device he’s still not used to, or...well.]

I know people have been...changing. It’s, uh. Not great. But...do the changes hurt for anyone else? There’s this spot on... my friend’s arm that’s all grey, and it hasn’t stopped hurting ever since it showed up. Does anyone else have that?

I’m asking for my friend.

[He’s not asking for a friend.]

[OOC; Dylas is infected by the Cwyld after an encounter with some Shades. He’s been hiding it under his clothes, but now his arm is hurting real bad.]

My...tailbone's sore? Which I'm pretty sure means...something. No grey spots, though.

Yeah, no. Trust me, I know what that feels like. This is specifically the tailbone.

[the voice that answers is low, as well, with a hoarseness to it, as though its owner is either not used to speaking or hasn't spoken at all today. still, francel sounds calm, and perhaps a little sleeping.]

I... have most assuredly been in great pain. That being said, you ought to get this "spot" looked at by a member of the Coven.

It's hurt, but not in a spot like that... [ A pause. ] Can you send a picture of it?

[ It sounds like what he saw volunteering at the infirmary outside the Wall, but that's not really a diagnosis he wants to suggest unless he's completely sure. ]

Not on my arm, but when my wings grew it hurt like hell. [America winces just thinking about it, and it's obvious in his voice.] But once it was done it stopped hurting. How long's your friend been hurting?

Do you mean an actual tail bone? I have those, too.

[He has a tailbone and tail bones. He can do it all.]

Hah. Yeah. Wouldn't that be nice? I'll just sketch it right up and send a courier your way. That's how I want to spend my day, drawing my friend's sore spot for you to look at.

[Dylas has yet to figure out that there's any way to send pictures on his pocket watch. He barely understands the video function. Good luck, Joker.]

Huh. Really? This is my...friend's only change so far.

[His voice trails off. There have been a few odd things. More hair on his legs, mostly. But he's not going to mention that to a stranger.]

Should I really tell my friend that? It sounds like an overreaction.

My friend's only been hurting for a week or so. At first he thought it was a bruise, but it isn't getting any better.

[okay first of all, he does totally have friends. well. maybe. konoe counts, right?

Yeah. Wings are cool, but I don't really want to turn into anything, so it still kind of sucks, too. [It's a complicated sort of feeling.] Maybe if your friend goes to the Coven infirmary they can give them some sort of... Magic change painkillers? They have to have something, right?

These things can take photos.

There's no shame in seeking treatment when it is warranted. And it isn't as though the locals aren't willing to help.

[there's a soft sigh, the sound of someone shifting their weight, perhaps from a lying to a sitting position.]

In my case, there was nothing they could actually do for the root cause, but at the very least they cast some spells to ease my suffering, and encouraged me towards other options. If it would help your friend at all, no matter how subtle the pain, I would take him to ask a qualified healer.

[a brief pause.]

This friend of yours is a Monster, is he not?

I mean the spot on your ass where tails would be if humans had 'em, yeah. Specifically the bone, though. Not the whole ass.

[ Dylas look don't worry him, he hadn't even gotten to go fishing with you yet. ]

Maybe he should see a doctor.

[Oh hey, it's friend! Friend who seems to be not doing well, though. Troubling.]

Hmm, just a spot? And no other changes like it? That seems rather bad. [He's so helpful.] I don't suppose your friend would be willing to meet someone about it, would they?

[Hearing from Majima gives Dylas mixed feelings. He's happy to hear from the guy again, yeah, but the hot spring had sort of...he'd said so many things he wouldn't say to a person on a first chat. He's normally not that friendly, so it feels a little like a lie. It's a little frustrating.]

He, uh. Yeah, he says it hurts, especially when he tries to bandage it or anything. Weird, right? It's just...greyness.

[Dylas is fine! He's fine.]

Isn't that a bit much? It's just, uh, him changing, right? Do people go to the doctor for that?

[!!! Oh, Dylas' ears actually perk on the other line. It's Dylas' nice friend, the person he said he'd beat someone up for. Coughs.]

It's bad?! I mean, are you sure I should tell him that?

[Crap, he sounded a little too shocked there.]

He, uh...he might be! Do you know anyone? For him.

...Yeah. Changing into something is...probably not great.

[He has awkward feelings on it, too. He's not even sure how to voice them to a friend, let alone a strange over the ~~phone~~ watch.]

It doesn't hurt that bad. O-or so my friend told me. He can tough it out.

[He blinks slowly. Crap. He still doesn't know how to use this thing well. That blonde girl, he should have paid more attention to her.]

I...I know that. I was only joking. My friend knows that, too.

[ At least Majima sounded more concerned about the problem than Dylas's level of familiarity. ]

Listen, man. I've seen it a million times. Dude's got somethin' wrong with him, doesn't wanna see the doctor.

You gotta convince him to go for his own good. If nothing's up, great. But if something is, ignoring it most likely ain't going to make it go away.

You're right. He...my friend...he's sort of a tough guy. Asking for help is kind of hard on him. But if they can help, maybe he'll...go do that.

[Wow, it feels good to get that off his chest, because there's no way this stranger over the network suspects Dylas' lie.]

He's not a monster. He's just...changing. [There's a certain quality to Dylas' voice here that isn't quite as dull as before. He sounds more aloof, more distracted. But he persists.] He can't use magic, so he's not a witch. That's how it works, right?

[In retrospect, he probably should have said something better. After all, he knows Dylas is asking for himself.]

Hmm, well. I could look at it but I don't know if I'll know what it is? The Coven witches could look at it as well. But it all depends on what your friend might feel comfortable with doing?
