[ Considering how long she's been here now and how... enthusiastic her Coven mentors have been about her finding a Bond, Yona's finally worked up the courage to try and use this strange device for herself and ask for some advice. ]

How did those of you who have made Bonds know that your partner was right for you? Was it just something casual and easy? Was it something deeper than that? Did you have a hard time finding someone when you first arrived?

[ Was that too intrusive? Insecure? She hopes not... ]

And those of you who haven't yet... what is it you're looking for?

I don't wish to endanger anyone here, either. I appreciate your own tale on the matter - that means a lot.

And I'm glad you found someone you enjoy being bonded with. I think that's one of the most special things, in all of this. I hope to find the same.

I think growing close to someone is perhaps a process that never ends, but I'm glad you found someone you could connect with, even if it started out of necessity.

There's a surprising amount of similar tales here. Although maybe it shouldn't be that surprising. Despite the fact that we all come from such vastly different places, there seems to still be a great deal we all have in common.

I think we all would like to make the best of being here and finding common ground with those who have also been brought here is a large part of that. We're strangers in a strange land.

Sure, it's completely fine with me, wouldn't offer otherwise. I'm not going to speak for him but I don't expect a refusal. I've helped several friends like that already, so did he.

Ahh, well... He offered a bond with me, if I so wished. Although I'm not sure he was speaking of a temporary one.

Yes. And of people I know who do not know me, though most are as fragmented as I.

Where will you draw the line, though? Is preserving your life more important to you, or trusting your Bond partner? It's true that emotions tend to leak through, and that it can be an easy way to take advantage of someone if one were that type of person... On the other hand, I've heard death is an eventual consequence of not Bonding.

Some people are worse than others, of course, but few are without complications. And with varying timelines 'oft involved, there's no guarantee of even encountering the same person once known.

[Was there even anyone he wanted to see brought here? His allies weren't exactly the best company, and while Hythlodaeus had been here but recently and briefly, that brought its own issues. Mixed feelings.]

As for whether it's an invasion... honestly, no. [A realization that comes as a mild surprise to him, and the Ascian hums to himself as he thinks about why.] Or rather, were one not willing to be open with one's Bonded, it would be. But if trust is involved, then... there's nothing to invade, is there? One's boundaries are already blended.

[It had certainly not been a view he'd had upon arriving here. He's not entirely sure when it changed, but....]

Perhaps... matching that intent matters more than any individual belief. I have little in common with either of mine otherwise. So long as you find those capable of taking all that you give them- do the other details matter?

Your surprise delights me. Yes!! The Bonding process quite literally ties the knot of the couple's magical signatures... In other words, their souls! How intimate... Yes. Thus, "a marriage of the souls."

The emotional aspects you mean? Or are you talking about the stabilization?

I'm not good with words. It's still strange though.

If it helps I've recently heard the Coven offer temporary bond potions. Though they'll press you to get a bond instead, they'd rather give you a potion that risk you having nothing.

It's a place I'd much rather be, but this place saw fit to go elsewhere. My own mind is familiar, and it hides secrets I don't want others to know. Having another so close to them is uncomfortable. [Maria's spent a Long Time being forced to sit and think about what she did, and be completely isolated from all but jabbering lunatics, and the ghosts of people she'd killed in the past, who hate her. She's totally used to it. Also... she does not like people knowing about the things she did. Double whammy against this Bonding thing.]

That's true, but I suppose it depends on if they even see it as a problem yet...

Varying timelines?

[ This is the first she's heard of such a thing, but to be fair, as she's the only one from her lands, it hasn't come up yet. ]

Perhaps they don't. I think the biggest complication for me was always... finding someone I was comfortable trusting, I suppose. But I think there are at least a few here I've felt comfortable with that could easily grow into more, given time. At the very least, I suppose the bond presents a unique atmosphere to get to know them more in itself.

I've heard of this, as well. It's certainly useful, if you're venturing into a bond you're not quite certain about yet. I may have to give it a try.

I take it you hadn't known about those either, before?

I suppose that's one way of looking at it. Although others are thinking of it as far more of a test sort of thing? I don't know how many have told me, if it doesn't work out you can just end it.

I suppose I'm still deciding where that line is. I certainly do not want to risk hurting anyone else. I guess I'm just hoping I'll be able to find someone I'm comfortable enough with before that becomes an issue...

Either one! Since you weren't very eager to make one in the first place, I'd be interested to hear what you think of it now that you have one?

Are you not close enough to your bonded to share such secrets?

That is what I've been seeking as well. Sometimes it can feel hard to find, however. Especially in so short a period of time.

And it can be overwhelming to overcome alone. I've been relieved to find so many kind and like-hearted people here, stranded though we may be.

Indeed. There are temporary solutions, should you be unable to find anyone.
