I have a question directed to the Earthlings who were brought here.
Before I came to this planet, my experience with humans was brief. As such, my knowledge of their culture is largely limited and something I have been working at understanding for some time now.
To get to the point: I am curious about human friendship rituals. Is handholding a common practice among friends?
…
And what about kissing?
[AHEM. Not lingering on that one for too long. Definitely asking for a friend and not because she’s been casually smooching her bond for awhile now and still they are acting like it means nothing. As you do.]
I only ask this because I have seen a lot of different behavior since I arrived here that is different from the culture I was raised in and do not wish to misinterpret the meanings. Thank you.

[But she won't turn down common wisdom, here.]
On my planet, most overt displays of affection are kept privately.
It's not that we aren't affectionate it's just. A little more formal.
[Being royalty sure doesn't help that at all.]

[who even calls their world that, honestly]
Hmmm. More formal, eh? Well, in that case, certain kind of touches can certainly imply more intimacy than others, depending on who they're directed at, of course. Some people are more overt in physical affections. [Vex herself is very much so -- but only with those she's close to.] Holding hands with a child, or your parent, would certainly be different compared to with a dear friend, or lover.

[Named for dirt. Who would have thought!]
But would you commonly hold hands with someone who is only a friend? Or is that a gesture reserved for romantic partners?

Friends can lead one another, you might grasp hands in joy or out of comfort. Linking arms is common and casual. But~ the sort of hold you have on their hands can dictate and communicate a lot of how you feel about each other.
[ Because there's holding hands, and there's holding hands. ]
Has your Earthling friend giving you some indication the way you hold hands means something more to them? Is that why you're also asking about kisses~?

[She laughs as she types it. Really, she thinks the humans are charming. But the laugh dies when she reads more. Boy she was really obvious about her question, wasn't she?]
It's not me! It is my housemates. Who hold hands.
[No that's also a bad lie.]
no subject
Oh, creative is it? I take it that's why you're asking about the hands, then. Well, I'm pretty sure there are many ways to flirt with hand signals and gestures if you really want to get their attention~
Hold hands with you~?
no subject
Perhaps sometimes they do.
What kind of hand signals count as flirting?
[She needs to know for science.]
