Evening, Mirrorbound. My name's Myr Shivana, for those who don't know my voice.

I've need of someone with experience mediating disputes--a village elder, a judge, even a senior ench--senior academic, if you've had particularly bad students. [There's a note of faint amusement in his voice, there.]

You'd be helping settle a matter that's caused no end of pain and distress to those involved. The reasons behind it are sensitive in nature, so discretion's a must.

I can compensate your time--with cunes or honey or service, whatever's preferred.

Also--unrelated to the other issue, if there's any Witches or Fae who specialize in illusions invoking taste instead of sight, I'd like to talk to you. Or cooks specializing in food for folk who can't taste much, I s'pose could work too. [He sounds cheerier about this one, at least.]

[Most of this gets a blink. 'Mediating' no, she's the worst at that. Teaching...she's done but, not great at. She also wasn't interested in money (Tho honey was tempting)

[She is fae. But she has had her powers a whole month and how do they work?]

[Somehow he's not surprised that's his first response (...and honestly, a little relieved, too).]

That's my understanding--their illusions work on all the senses, if they're practiced at it.

[When you have to learn about your powers, from someone who does not have them.]

I'm not even sure where to start...

Are you talking about, like, legal disputes entirely or is this more of a, like... Marital counseling needed kind of dispute. Bond counseling? Both. I don't know. Anyways, more specificity would probably help the people who would be able to help.

I don't know about food for people who can't taste much, but. I know how to cook and so does my housemate, and it's not all the typical stuff in Aefenglom. But if it's a physical issue...

[They trail off, and Myr can probably Hear their shrug.]

[He makes a little noise, a huff that's not quite a laugh.]

Know how that goes. I'd say "talk to the natives" but they're not always the most helpful.

D'you do any illusions yet? [Curious, not judging.]

[Bond counseling, oh Maker that's an Image if L and Niles ever got Bonded.]

Legal. Definitely legal; proper to call it a feud at this point.

[With all the problems those entailed.] --And frustrating as it must be for those listening, I've given about as much detail as I'm willing to in public.

It's a physical issue--though strongly scented things might work as well as enchanted ones would. But I thought--might as well aim at the moons to start and see if anyone's doing magic like that.

[Because he's a nerd, who still loves magic.]

Is everything alright?

[Hector is completely useless in terms of what Myr is asking for, but he has a hammer and very few scruples. Which can be useful for certain kinds of problems.]

Everything's stable, for the moment, let's say.

[All right would be lying.

Myr considers a moment, then clicks the connection over to private and adds,]

I don't remember if I mentioned back in Maiuril that my other Bonded was attacked, not long after Everett was.

[It had been a bad time and he doesn't remember any longer who he had or hadn't told, in his excess of fury. It's not a feeling he much likes.]

[L knows the reason for this broadcast, and he's at peace with Myr feeling the need to make it in the hopes of finding a suitable mediator for a feud that's no longer controllable, perhaps never was.

One thing stands out, though, something they hadn't discussed.]

I appreciate you asking, but... taste isn't an essential need.

[His teeth are probably thanking him, even if taking less pleasure in eating means that his clothes hang a little more loosely on him.]

I know a former mafia boss, a hobo-chef, and a music teacher. Would any of those help?

You're not eating enough, [comes the sensible reply.] So I'd say it is, in fact, essential.

[Oho, he's...spoiled for choice??]

Depends on what a mafia is; I don't know the term. ["Boss," though, suggests some things.]

Uh, it's sort of a crime group that operates under their own rules. Sometimes they're part of a family. His was filled with lions.

...Actual lions?

[Wait a darn minute.] Is your crime lord also a deer?

Yeah, actu--

Oh. Guess you must know Louis, too. [Well that makes it easier.]

I do, though I didn't know that about him.

[Huh. Puts some things in another light.

Also, settles oddly in the pit of Myr's stomach, though he's going to ignore that feeling for now.]

If he's got methods for settling feuds that leave everyone involved alive...I'd hear them. I really do need a mediator for this without going to the Coven.

[He's been trying, but he feels a twinge of sheepishness that Myr's noticed how lackluster it's made his enthusiasm for food. Highly fragrant foods help, somewhat, but L never had an adventurous palate for savory spices. He misses the subtle sweetness of melon, the full richness of butter, the pure indulgence that is sugar. Knowing it's in his mouth and belly and actually experiencing it beyond what he can smell are such different things.]

Anyway, I'm touched that you thought of it.

[And would have, L suspects, even if Myr's Bonded wasn't in danger of failing to survive the winter based on his alarming body fat percentage.]

It would make it easier to go along with everything else.

[He agreed and committed to it; it doesn't mean that it will be easy, should they manage to find someone willing and capable of handling their tangled affair.]

That's fair. We're bonded, so we know more about each other than we would otherwise.

[Is it a warm fuzzy feeling? Like a lion cub?]

Maybe. I can ask him. Not sure if I could help, too, but I've helped with conflicts in the past.

[Helped solve her country's civil war among other minor events.]

My ears were burning.

[ Ah - here we are. ]

I guess it depends on the conflict, but so far so good.

[Even if they're not living entirely in each other's pockets, it would be damned difficult for Myr to miss the drop in appetite. And that's even without the Bond's informing him of L's disinterest in meals he can now scarcely taste, or the gnawing edge of hunger that hadn't been there before and sometimes seemed the only impetus that kept his Witch eating.

It is a small misery and a small heartbreak, but misery and heartbreak even so.]

Say nothing of it, amatus. If we do find someone who can do it, and it makes it easier on you, so much the better.

[Though, speaking of. They'll switch to private for this next bit of conversation.]

I've a request, though. Something you should do, before we even find a mediator.

why what dyou need, better recipes?

Anything.

[He says so quickly, before he's even considered what Myr might ask of him. Maybe it's hasty and unwise, but "anything" is what he wants to be willing to do, for one who's done so much for him, through so much.]

Just say what it is, and consider it done.

On the surface that should be something Myr's delighted to hear; he should be glad that L's willing to go along with this, despite his own reticence and injuries.

But it also came much too fast; though they're at a distance from each other, he knows what the accompanying emotion would be in their Bond.

That heartrending childlike eagerness is a terrible thing to bear when he knows what he'll be asking.]

Give Niles his eyepatches back.

The first you took from him, at the very least.
