[It is pretty obvious that whoever is using the watch is not used to cell-phone style devices. Used to being recorded, yes, of course, but not like...selfies or recording himself. So at first the video swings wildly and dizzily all over the place before settling on a very close up recording of a single green eye. Then the camera pans out, and Klaus lifts a hand with "Hello" clearly tattooed on the palm to wave with a little wiggle of his fingers.

He's grinning, but he looks exhausted. Are the smudges around his eyes from sleep deprivation or smudged eyeliner? The world will never know.]

Hello, citizens! Or whatever we're calling ourselves this fine day. Victorian-era folks? Old-timey wizards? Whatever, whatever, you know what I mean.

[A pause, and he rubs at one eye, still smiling.]

So. Important question. If a guy were in say...some serious physical and-or emotional pain, where would he go to get a little relief in this place?

[A pause, and he lifts his free hand to cover his face, shaking his head, murmuring under his breath.]

No no no...that's not right. Fuck, there's probably not even an NA chapter in this place.

[A few seconds, he gives his head another shake, and the smile comes back up as if it never left.]

Or, well, you know! Other distractions. Right. Non-medicinal distractions. What do you do for fun around here?

[Oh look, someone else who doesn't seem to know too much about how to use cell phone devices too well. Kyrie starts filming perhaps a little sooner than intended, brows knit together in a slight frown as she takes in Klaus' appearance.]

I've only just arrived here so I don't know much about where you can go to for help, but I've always found it helps to talk to somebody when you're feeling in pain. Sometimes getting whatever it is that's troubling you off your chest can make all the difference.

[She takes a moment, looking like she's questioning herself before she goes ahead.]

I know we haven't met, and you can tell me to mind my own business, but are you alright?

Go to the hospital or find a healer if you're in that much pain. [It's gruff. Though she got nothing for emotional pain.]

If you're in physical pain, you should see a doctor. Whatever's causing the problem should be treated.

Emotional pain is different, but the solution's the same. It's not a quick fix and in this case, a quick fix also results in a temporary fix. Is it caused by arriving here?

[ Others might have missed it, but she couldn't. Mostly because she'd seen that look in others before, heard that particular... tone, when discussing one's pain. ]

That sort of pain is not put away so easily...

[everyone's already right on the money with what to do (especially if it's serious, and even Styx can hear that certain wobble in the man's voice) but they don't seem to have gotten to the where yet, so...]

Um, Coven's usually pretty good about helping you out if you need it. Since it's magic 'nd stuff there's a lot they can do that you're kinda on your own for usually.

[unless, you know. he was from a place where magic was normal in which case this was all probably useless! damn. at least the big guy knows for sure he can answer that other question without fucking up, which he does despite the kind of awkward cut it makes from the first point.]

[Oh. This girl looks sweet and worried. Annnnd she totally misses that he was asking about drugs, which is probably definitely for the best...and suggesting he talk out his pain with someone, and asking him if he's alright.

Wow. Yeah. She's sweet and helpful and cute and exactly the type of person who Klaus should not go anywhere near, and he knows it.

But Klaus is not the type of person with the self-control to save other people from himself.]

Oh...oh yeah yeah yeah, I'm fine, I'm fine. Just tired. Surviving the apocalypse really takes it out of you, you know.

[Toward the end, his voice is full of sarcasm that makes his voice sound all rough, and he waves a hand, letting out a little laugh.]

Or should I say, failing to save the world from the apocalypse. Ah well. That's all done and over with and I'm probably having some coma dream now. Hello, coma dream person. You're nice.

There's a hospital here? Oh, you know, that might just be helpful...

[Rubbing his chin thoughtfully for a moment, he seems to be in deep thought, then he waves his hand.]

On second thought, no, I'm fine. Any suggestions on what sort of entertainment people get up to around here?

[Oh man, the people here really don't get what he's actually asking for, do they? God.

For the best, it's for the best if no one can tell him where to get his fix, right? Because he's detoxing. Right. Detoxing. Not that he can really remember why when his skin is crawling the way it is.]

Right, right, when you put it that way it just sounds so simple...

[A humorless laugh, and he pushes his hand through his hair, distracted and fidgety.]

Ohhh, I doubt this emotional pain is going anywhere. But I can deal, I can deal, always have...right, and...no? I mean, I'm pretty sure I'm hallucinating right now.

Wait, you mean this whole magic thing, right? I wonder if that would do any good...

[Lifting a hand, he idly scratches at a bare upper arm.]

[Well, it's nice that someone notices what's going on with him, because he can't think of anything else right now besides the way his skin is crawling like there's bugs just underneath it and he can't stop shaking and sweating and he constantly feels like he's about to puke. Just a nonstop carousel of fun for the whole family.]

Ha! You're telling me.

[Shaking his head, he exhales shakily.]

[Oh, right, the Coven. Not a lot of things phase Klaus, and the whole concept of magic and monsters is pretty easy to swallow. It's mostly just the alternate world and old-timey Victorian vibe that are throwing him off.

Though they do have some absolutely stunning fashion options.]

Oh, well. I'll have to check that out, if I can, uh...remember where the Coven is. Who knows, maybe they have something better than whatever I would've taken at home.

[Do they make magic benzos? Who knows?

A beat, though, and then he's nodding at that last question, visibly brightening in a finally not-fake way.]

Yeah, man. There's nothing better than a great mix tape in the bathtub.

[as he takes lessons there the Coven is one of the few places that Styx can reliably find without having to really thinking, but it doesn't make him any better at giving out directions. he briefly considers trying anyway but eventually abandons the idea pretty quickly. someone more intelligent than him would surely help the man out.]

Dude, killer! 's good for doing all kinds of stuff, yeah? Even if it's kinda tough here...they don't really got good mobile options or nothing yet.

[and the records were. not quite like the records he was used to seeing at home? but the drummer's a lover of music to the very end, and gramophone use is something he'd picked up surprisingly quickly.]

Spread's way bigger than you'd think for being, um, old-timey and all. Guess because of all of us? But I can tell you some good music stores to hit up if you wanna check it out for yourself...got some band recs too.

[His voice lilts sarcastically at the end there, and he waves a hand again, scratches at his cheek, moving in a distracted, flighty sort of way. The question makes him shrug.]

Dunno, they said I'm in another world, right? Alternate universe thing, and there's magic and people who turn into centaurs or whatever and you know, it's just enough like a really realistic LSD trip that it makes you question your reality. Not that reality's been all that normal lately...

Usually I solve the emotional pain medicinally, if you get my drift. Been to therapy though, not sure if it did me much good.

[A shrug, and he scratches at his upper arm again, and then a spot on his jaw where facial hair is growing in.]

Sure sure, yeah yeah yeah so how about entertainment. Something nice and...immersive.

Oh yeah, for sure. The only real struggle was finding batteries for my Walkman. Do they even have batteries here?

I would totally love some music store recommendations, and band recs...I can't tell if live music would just make my head ache or not right now, I can tell you, I went to the club the other day and wow that was a nightmare. Basically hell. But that'll probably get better, you know, so I could take down recs for later...if I can figure out where to write them or...don't trust my memory, you know?

[Honestly, Klaus is going to be surprised if he actually listened to all that. He's pretty used to rambling in the background and no one paying attention, even when he admits to some pretty terrible things. Like almost dying or getting kidnapped and tortured. Oh well.]

Kyrie listens carefully and visibly startles as he mentions the apocalypse. Wow. No wonder he looks so wrung out and tired. So he's been through a lot, and then wound up here? No wonder the poor man's in pain.]

When you say apocalypse... do you mean an actual apocalypse or just a really terrible situation?

[walkman..? that was something Styx had back home, yeah, but it was also something Styx had because it was ridiculously outdated and cheap. either this guy was as poor as he was or he was sort of an old timey dude himself. it seems kind of rude to ask, though...so he just quietly reminds himself to try not to use too much slang going forward. no need to have a repeat of grandpa Eren.]

Be kinda cool to listen to music in hell, though...uh, but, guess it's not as cool if it's just a figure of speech. Headaches suck, dude.

[he suspects it's why the guitarist for his band doesn't often drink very much despite having a combative and competitive nature...Vincent just seems like the kind of person sensitive to such changes in his environment. he admired that about him.]

If you're worried about forgetting 'cause of the hangover or whatever, don't gotta be! You can send stuff right to the watches here - can you believe it? - so I could just shoot 'em over to you there later. Can look at everything as many times as you want like that.
