[It's been a few months since Momo made a video post, but he starts off as brightly as ever, waving a red-nailed hand from where he's sitting on the couch in his cottage. He has his legs crossed on the seat, so his equally red toenails are all just as visible.]

Hey, so it's taken me a while to follow up on this, but a couple of months back I was asking around about the idea of getting together some kind of comprehensive resource on monster changes! Since I've met a lot of people who've been really blindsided by stuff, and while some of it hasn't been so bad, some of it is definitely the kind of thing that'd be super nasty to go through without any warning. So I'm asking for any monsters - or Witches who've seen a Bonded or close friend go through the changing process enough to have details - who are willing to answer a couple of questions on what kind of changes you have or know about!

[He holds up a written sheet - this particular one is written in Aefenglom's common language, in the standard alphabet rather than the runic one some books use.]

I'll leave a text copy of the answers on here so people can respond here, but I'll read them out too just in case there's people who can't read any of the three languages I know - I'll have the form in Aefenglom common, Japanese and English, but if you'd rather not read or write you can just answer here in voice or video and I can ask you the questions that way! But the questions I've got at the moment are:

Are there any weaknesses or allergies your monster type has?

Is there anything else about your monster type or the changing process that you think would be useful for someone changing into it to know?

I don't need paragraphs or anything, if you prefer to just dot point or list the basic stuff then that'll be helpful too! I had some people last time say they'd be interested in helping me compile the information, but it's still probably going to take a bit of time. Oh, and if you want a physical copy, you can either pick one up from me or I'll be figuring out a couple of places to leave them for easy access. And if you're a Witch answering on behalf of someone else, just let me know that in the first question.

I might need some people to help me ask local monsters for types we don't have a lot of among the Mirrorbound, like arachne.

What monster type are you? Harpy

What physical changes have you gone through? I have grown feathers across most of my body, including large wings from my arms. My hands and feet are talons, my teeth are sharp, and my ears are pointed. Also, my hair changed color.

What abilities or powers have you gotten from your change? I can use my wings to fly, my eyesight has increased in clarity, and I always know when someone is lying. I can also, if I concentrate, send small bursts of concentrated air from my wings that is sharp enough to cut skin.

Have you had any mental or emotional changes as this type of monster? I was beset by the constant, unforgettable urge to build a nest, and to keep my most beloved things there.

Are there any weaknesses or allergies your monster type has? I do not know of any. But it is likely I have simply not encountered them.

Is there anything else about your monster type or the changing progress that you think would be useful for someone changing into it to know? Nothing else.

Bonus: If you have completed your changes, how long did they take? I do not know if I have fully completed my changes, or if there is yet more to come. But I began changing this summer, so it has been at least six months.

What physical changes have you gone through? Ah, let's see... I grew fur on the upper half of my body, my eyes changed to gold, I have claws and a fluffy tail and long ears - I tried to have those chopped off once but I'm glad I didn't because they're adorable. Oh, and I got a little shorter.

*It's important to note that none of my physical changes have affected my handsomeness.

What abilities or powers have you gotten from your change? Speed, and I get a funny feeling sometimes. Like before someone throws a punch or a beer bottle at me. And I can sound just like Lan Qiren, which isn't necessarily a good thing...

Have you had any mental or emotional changes as this type of monster? I kind of want to dig a burrow and move Lan Zhan into it. And...well, sometimes I feel more, eh, let's just call it "romantic".

Are there any weaknesses or allergies your monster type has? I can't stomach meat anymore. Not even Shijie's delicious pork rib and lotus root soup. :(

Is there anything else about your monster type or the changing progess that you think would be useful for someone changing into it to know? [sorry momo, he just draws a picture of chibi lan zhan in this space.]

Bonus: If you have completed your changes, how long did they take? Nothing else has changed since last summer, so I guess it took around five months all in all.

What physical changes have you gone through?

The obvious replacement of legs with a snake tail, of course. Along with that, the replacements of snake eyes, tongue, and fangs, as well as scales in other places.

What abilities or powers have you gotten from your change?

During the full moons, I've found my scales to develop a harder sheen, almost as if made of metal. Beyond that, I cannot think of anything I've found beyond the normal sorts of things one would expect from the physical changes. There is venom, but I hesitate to discover its effects.

Have you had any mental or emotional changes as this type of monster?

A fondness for warm objects is quite difficult to control. I think we're all aware of the troubles the full moons can cause as well, but I'm fortunate enough to have bonded before truly feeling the full effects.

Are there any weaknesses or allergies your monster type has?

Unfortunately the winter weather agrees with me less now. The cold is quite terrible.

Is there anything else about your monster type or the changing progress that you think would be useful for someone changing into it to know?

Having someone to help during the adjustment to life without legs would be well advised. Even with the impending signs that it was to happen, I cannot imagine it an easy change for anyone. Frequent bathing helps with the shedding process as well.

Bonus: If you have completed your changes, how long did they take?

The last notable changes were some time ago. Perhaps four months or so, then.

What an excellent idea, Momo. I'm certain this will be helpful to others who are still struggling, and any new arrivals. Of course I'm glad to help, as least as far as I can from my own experience.

I suppose there's hardly so much to go over for newfound witches, is there?

[Momo gives a bit of a laugh at that question.] Yeah, not so much. The biggest points for us are making sure we know about the whole blowing up thing, which is pretty common knowledge, and deciding on a magic class. And even if someone doesn't trust the Coven, it's a little bit easier to at least get the general outline of all the magic classes from another Witch, whereas trying to list off everything you might have to deal with as a particular monster type...that's a lot even just for one monster.

I'm hoping there's enough answers to cover the variety of changes some Monsters can have across different people, but I guess we'll have to see how it goes.

[ Kind of hesitant expression on her face as she pops up. Actually still unsure if this is a good idea since she's been hiding from her home world friends since these random changes started appearing.

I would be very interested in helping you out with this mission to compile information. I just...have one question first if you don't mind. How do you know when...changes have been completed?

[Momo grins encouragingly, because it is pretty obvious this girl is new and he can't really blame anyone for being not very enamoured with the changes.]

As far as I've heard, it's basically just when you stop growing new stuff every month. There are some monsters that seem to have seasonal changes like winter coats or shedding antlers or that sort of thing, but I wouldn't really call those part of the changes so much as just living as that kind of monster.

[Like animals with similar sorts of seasonal cycles.]

[ She's trying her hardest to hide the fact that his answer irked the heck out of her but the sharp intake of breath doesn't help at all. That was a very... non-specific answer. She was hoping for a very specific time frame. ]

That sounds very... [ ..disturbing ] ..interesting. I would like to be a part of your research and investigation if there is anything i can do to assist. You might uncover a lot of things that would be of great help to us.

[ Maybe a cure. ]

It sounds like you have been investigating this for a while?

Certainly, there is a good deal of diversity for anyone attempting such an ambitious project to record. But once the changes are complete, there's really not much more to it, is there? Whereas witches can continue their studies for as long as they would like and continue to advance their abilities in much more interesting ways. Do you still attend classes, yourself?

[ Don't mind how enthusiastic Sougo looks right now. This sudden gathering of information has pretty recently become important to him. ]

Ah! Momo? If you find out any helpful information about vampires, would you let me know as soon as possible?

[ A pause, before he hastily adds in. ]

My undying gratitude? The knowledge that your responses will help newcomers not be as lost as you were on what Fae changes are like? [Momo grins apologetically. He's taking this as something of a census-style thing, so compensation for the answers themselves isn't really factored in.] If you want to get paid for something, I'm considering putting up a little job posting for people to interview local Monsters later on. But I think it really would help to have a Mirrorbound Fae's responses since local ones are likely to be harder to get answers from, so I hope you can find it in your heart to donate your time and information to my cause.

[Oh boy. There is definitely A Face Momo makes at that, one that says he's going to have to drop some information on Sougo that he might not necessarily want to drop.]

I'll definitely need some more hands if I go the interviewing local Monsters route too, there's a couple of Monsters we don't have a whole lot of Mirrorbound reps for, so I'd be happy to take help with that.

[He can't hide from the vampire topic forever, though, so after an uneasy pause:] ...Has anyone told you that vampires die as part of their changes yet?

[That was possibly the worst piece of information Momo got out of his initial post about this idea.]

[Momo's good enough at reading people that the small draw of breath is all it takes anyway, and his smile shifts to something a bit more apologetic.]

Sorry I can't give you much more than that on it, but even the answers I've gotten so far seem to vary a bit. [It's not many as yet, but the fact that there's already a variety doesn't bode well for a sure answer.] I definitely welcome any help, though. If you're any good at organising and going through information, I could use a few more hands in the compilation stage, and I was thinking of maybe putting up a job posting for people to help out with interviewing local monsters too. I did start planning this a couple of months ago, so even though I couldn't move forward with it as soon as I would've liked, I've had the chance to think about how I wanted to handle it.

[That gets a grunt, or a him. She hears his 'plea' but also, she was a butt. ]

I don't think my information could help then. [A sigh] did I tell you my teeth started... Doing things? [probably not given she'd only seen him in person, what? once? Since that started happening. ]

Only if I'm starting an entirely new magic class, which I haven't done in a while. It's good for getting the basics down. [The last time he did it was probably when he had to very quickly advance his Enchantment knowledge to learn Cwyld healing techniques off Elliot, and that was a good five or six months ago.]

But once I'm past that, usually I kinda experiment on my own or read up on the magic area to see the kinds of things I can go into. Classes are good for structure, but if you want to do stuff that's a bit more niche or particular, I find it's easier to pick what you want to focus on yourself.

do you want replies from people who used to be monsters as well?

Sure! I didn't think it was a common enough situation to specify, but it's not as if it's much different to a Witch answering for someone they know, except you've actually gone through it (｢･ω･)｢

You don't think it could help when you're one of the not-very-many Mirrorbound Fae we have...? [Forgive Momo for sounding pretty doubtful about that. Even if she's still running into new things, it'd be a start.] You did message me about thinking you were getting wisdom teeth, but I think that was the last I heard from you on anything about teeth.

The others couldn't help me. I don't think my changes apply to most fae... [could you hear the shrug in her voice? Though she does sigh after. ]

Some of them fell out. At the back. I have... [pausing, working out how to describe her 'tooth' that wasn't ] fangs now.

[yes, fangs. Fangs that happened to be on little fingers, in her mouth. That she could wiggle. ]

And? You might be the first to get those changes, but it doesn't mean you're gonna be the last! Do you want to put someone else in your position later on?

[The apathy is kind of palpable, but Momo's going to be damned if he lets one of the most likely fae options he has slip through his fingers here.

That said, he does have to pause when she says fangs.]

That doesn't sound insecty... [And then he remembers she said the back of her mouth specifically, and it occurs to him there might be room for something else in that case.] Oh wait, mandibles? They're insect mouth bits, they kinda stick out and have teethy things along the sides.

[He sticks a finger out to either side of his mouth and then makes an inwards "snapping" motion with them as if to give a vague indication of what he means.]

[He was getting a low groan. The fae slumping unseen, she wanted to help but... She'd struggled and suffered so much she should get something in return for her pain. At least that was what an annoyingly insistent part of her brain was saying. ]

I.. I got some letters the other week. I can't read them properly. [a small huff, and just in case he didn't get her meaning ] I'll bring them around later.

You can tell me if mandibles are right then.

[ It takes her a little while to really pull herself completely together but she does manage to eventually bring that smile back onto her expression. Albeit a small one. ]

Back home I was really good at research and investigation. When I got here, though, my tablet stopped working so I'm not even sure how to compile the information that I find here. If you don't mind showing me your organizational methods I would be happy to help.

[ A small hesitant pause. ] That's uhm...as long as you don't mind some things happening to me while I'm helping out.
