I have a need for a few volunteers. Though you won't need to be physically present.

[Ignis had given some consideration to leaving the house he'd previously occupied with (fluctuating levels of) companions, but has ultimately decided that the twelve feet of snake-tail he's now pulling along is far better suited to a larger home. Thus, he's speaking from the kitchen of a house some might recognise as having been the home of Prompto, or Steak and Red Wine, or even Caren Ortensia.

And he's planning to make good use of it.
]

This world offers a good number of culinary challenges, and opportunities. If you have a moment, I'd like to hear about something that you're missing from your home - sweet, savoury, anything that comes to mind - and I'll need it described in as much detail as you can manage.

[He pauses for a moment, considering his next words.]

If I can, I'll do my best to replicate it for you. As closely as possible.

Very well. It's a triangular pastry, containing jelly in the center. I imagine any type of jelly, about a tablespoon of it, would do. Persimmon and dragon fruit are common flavors to use.

The crust would have flour, sugar, salt, butter, milk, egg... I would guess that they're baked for about twenty, thirty minutes or so, at 190°C.

[ looks like he wasn't kidding about needing to refine his guesses, woops. ]

yeeeeeah— ingredients. you probably know different ingredients than I do, we could as well speak different languages. but then, I ain't asking for a crispy chocobo nugget, or something equally niche.

aefenglom sits at sea, which means sea food's aplenty!! fish, shrimp, and other crawly-floating things might have different names here, but their taste is equally good. that's my favourite.

You said a lot of your friends had left. It sounds like it might bring a piece of home with you, too.

I won't refuse a meal. Do you know much about Japan?

I would gladly taste test whatever you came up with!

[Even if it ends up not being exactly like what she remembers, she's a fan of food in general, and will gladly take the time to sample the results of his efforts.]

Are you a chef by trade, or is this just for fun?

Well... Back at home, I'd back things like cakes for my friends. But, they tasted more special then because it was for them.

We're a country founded on an island so there's always a lot of seafood. Fish and rice are two staples in our diets. I don't know your normal meals for comparison, but we definitely eat less bread than they do here. Most of our homes don't even have an oven.

[ pleased!! ]

Glad to hear.

Lord Viren. Though considering titles, apparently, have little to no meaning here, then just 'Viren' is fine. A pleasure, Ignis.

Food does have a way of doing that, doesn't it?

[It's universal, it seems.]

It can lift spirits, soothe tempers, alleviate homesickness...

Hm, it does. We're very dense. We do have farmlands and we do grow crops, but it's not the same kind of availability as bigger countries offer.

Do you know a lot of Altissian dishes?
