Hey everybody, this is- uh, this is Hiccup. [That nasally voice sounds bright today, but like he's not entirely used to talking over these watches. It still feels like he's chatting to an inanimate object somehow, even though he knows other people will be able to hear this, because he hasn't used it much up to this date.] I think I'm starting to get used to being here, sort of. It's been an adjustment. And, you know, everything seems fine a lot of the time, but I'm sure we've all figured out from those dreams by now that- that this world is dangerous, too.
So, uh, I wanted to make an offer. I'm a blacksmith back home, and I finally finished setting up my forge. It's- you know, it's not fancy, but it's good enough to start working in. If anybody wants to bring scrap metal by, I'd be happy to make things out of it for you, no charge. Well, no charge unless I have to buy other materials. Weapons, armor, household objects, just about anything. I know a few things about leatherworking and general construction, too, and I can fireproof anything you'd like, but I have to charge for that because of what it involves.
And, hey, if any other smiths or crafters want to come by and borrow the space, that's great too.
My forge is right next to Keith's and my house just past the slums, barely into the woods, we call it Wilder's Edge- or, I call it Wilder's Edge, he wanted to just call it "Keith's and Hiccup's shack in the woods" but that's way too long to put on a map- [Can you hear the excessive hand gesturing in this speech?] -but anyway! If you don't want to come out this far by yourself, I can pick you up from the city, it's not a problem!

...Please don't get yourself stabbed.

It’s not for me— they’re for two witches with a lot of fluidity. [ there’s a slight shift of sound, clicking; he’s picking things and dropping them into a little bag. ] I got the idea from you in the first place, but I do want them fireproof. With my own scales.
no subject
I didn't know you'd started shedding? That must be uncomfortable.

It’s like hair falling out, [ almost ] I don’t realize it as much as when they were first growing in. [ that was a pain, very literally. but maybe he’s just sparing him because eren jaeger was meant to be shot, not stabbed. ]
But I’ll come by to check it out, I don’t know much about armor. [ so, you know. he trusts hiccup’s judgement much more than his own. a beat. ] Make it three.
[ he knows a fighter. ]

Well, if you collect your shed scales, I'll definitely set you up with some armor from it. And I'll need measurements, so if you want to bring your friends by, I can get them, or you can just get me the numbers. Was that- how many sets?
no subject
[ but at least he gets to pick them up and put them away for this. he’ll have enough in no time. ]
Three sets, but I’ll bring the sizes to you. They’re gifts.

[ so, there really isn’t a problem. ]
Chimeras don’t have a problem with iron, do they?
no subject
It'll take a lot of scales. How many have you collected so far?
no subject
That’s why I haven’t gotten anything for me yet. [ he has quite a few changes left, counting the full scale shift that, if the dreams are correct, he’ll lose anything he’s wearing. but he supposes they could work through any chimera changes later. right? he’ll pay for the extras. ]
. . . I have a lot. Almost two bags. [ two full moons this way!!!! although bag sizes vary— there’s plenty for perhaps one, maybe two, at the moment. ]

Two bags, that's- [Kind of impressive.] Wow. I guess it won't be long before you've got enough for all three sets.
