For those who are considering going to Dorchacht: someone brought up the idea of sharing what information we've been able to find out about how the compulsion to obey witches works in the city. From previous experience with these dreams, they don't often represent an accurate version of reality, so we should be cautious in our assumptions of what will actually be there.
From what I was able to find out, the enchantment to force Monsters to obey witches is built into the walls of the city itself -- along with a spell to keep the Cwyld out, though it's not the same as the one used by Aefenglom.
That being said ... if it works the way it does in the dream, then we know there are ways to protect ourselves. The resistance was distributing enchanted paper with runes that can be used to lift the compulsion. The witches were willing to teach me -- I assume I'm not the only one who learned. If there are enough of us willing to work on it, we could work together and take a look at that spell, see if we can strengthen it and distribute those spells to those who can't cast them. We don't have much time before we leave, but I think it's worth trying.
[ She pauses. Up to now, she hasn't looked very uncertain or worried, only concerned, but she's more tentative about what she says next. ]
One more thing ... we may still not know exactly where these dreams come from, or why, but I think it could be just as significant who isn't getting the dreams as much as who is. I spoke to some of the people who live outside Aefenglom's walls earlier last month -- and they told me they didn't experience anything like we did after Litha, that dream with the dragon and red skies.
But people who were infected by the Cwyld -- they did dream about something strange. They said they had the same nightmare of being trapped in darkness, hearing something or someone in pain, and a great heart beating in the distance. And they think they remember seeing some sort of cocoon, like a caterpillar's? It didn't seem like they were in the same place, but their accounts were very similar.
... I don't know if it has any significance, but if you're staying behind, please be careful, too.
[ ooc; Yako's referring to investigation results from here and here respectively, if you were curious. ]

voice; Archer
It seems things are getting serious. Those infected ones— [a pause.] I wonder if they have any dreams when the Cwyld takes control. Do they say anything coherent then?

I’m afraid I haven’t had much contact with anyone who’s been that far gone. Maybe someone who works with the Coven’s healers would know, but ... I should ask Miss Nessie about it. It made me wonder if everyone infected by the Cwyld is connected, somehow.

[Not going to ask how she knows it's possible to swallow a marble. Sometimes it's better to not know the details.]
Do you remember screaming flowers from the first dream? They did connect all the Cwylthids in the forest.
no subject
[ Definitely best not ask, Archer. ]
And, er, I hadn't noticed that myself, actually. When I ran into those flower, I thought the shades that appeared after were just attracted to the screaming...

As for enchantment I think I may be able to do it. My Bonded works with enchantments, perhaps he will help.
[Sounds in the background suggest that Archer is walking, then door opens and a second voice is heard that Yako can recognize as Caster. His voice is too muffled to understand what he's saying.]
Caster, can you help with making protective charms?
I was summoned here
I can test my teleport spells on you as well, how about that— [ Muffle muffle, ah yes, watch shows. So that's the deal. A moment later he just pops in from his own device so the sound is clearer. ] Yo, Yako. We happened to talk briefly about it in the other post, no? I guess the big guy here got some other idea— either way, if you need help with runes and enchantment I'm always up for it.
[ They could prepare the rune spells, and have someone else engrave them, that's true. Then in truly witchesy fashion they could make them Magic! ]
Re: I was summoned here
Oh! Hello, Mr. Caster. I didn't realize you were bonded. [ Maybe she should just start assuming everyone with that sort of name all knows each other??? ]
It's all theoretical at the moment, but Mr. Hiccup also suggested altering the spell slightly so it could be placed in clothes or armor. It doesn't sound like we have much time before we have to head off, though.
[ She'll get back to that flowers animating the shades point later, but for now she'll settle for answering that immediate question. ]

He got a good idea, enchantments have to be modified depending on what surface they are applied to— and in case of skin, it can't be just any paint or ink, since it's acting as a focus. Unfortunately, it will also wear-off with use.
[ A hum ]
Guess I should hit that Hiccup when he's around on the boat, or earlier? No reason to invent the wheel twice.

[It's not the only worry Archer has. In theory ambassadors should be safe, to not cause a diplomatic issue between the two cities, but it's better to be safe.]
Once you're in Dorchacht it's worth checking spells their Coven teaches and if - and how - they differ from ones taught here.
for the sake of ic discussion let’s assume they know at this point they’re gonna be split up
[ Though that’s a big assumption to make. ]
Mr. Caster, you might already know this, but the witches of Dorchacht feel very differently about King Serwyl than other parts of Geardagas. Please be careful — he’s the one they got the idea to use Monsters as they do from.
good idea
I'm going with the first batch, but I don't know if I will return with them as well. Archer gets into trouble easily. [ Pot calling the kettle, alas. That is to say, the "secret" team has their means to travel, only that they are supposedly experimental ones... ] We might run into each other when you arrive, Yako and I'll try to have something ready for you.
—what reminds me. If you've got any friends of fae or dragon origin, make sure to double warn them. They were woth a large price on the market, if you catch my drift.

[A bit of common sense, and for a moment he's going to ignore the comment about trouble. For now.]
Sounds like their library is definitely worth checking. Their version of history as well.
[He's not going to comment on price. Been there and done that once.]
life ate me so sorry for the slow replies again orz
Since you'll be going first, please let me know if you find anything interesting, or if there's anything you need me to look up here.
