My name is Shiro. I arrived here a few days ago.

[ Above him, a bird takes off at the sound of his voice. ]

I heard people are transported here from different universes and from my understanding, the chance of meeting someone you know is relatively high. That's why I'm transmitting on an open channel.

[ Despite all his military background warning him to keep a low profile.

He's silent for a moment, as if gearing up for a confession before taking the plunge. ]

I'm searching for the Paladins of Voltron. They have similar armor to mine. Keith, Allura, Lance, Pidge, Hunk. If you've seen them or know of them - [ a faint smile pulls at the edge of his mouth, smoothing the militant stance ] - I'd really appreciate any information you can give me.

The same goes for anyone who's familiar with an Altean named Coran or the Galaxy Garrison.

[ He nods at the camera with purpose and ends the transmission. ]

[ Princess?! He quickly brings up the message to answer back. ]

Yes. She's an Altean Princess.

Do you know her? Have you seen her?

Is she okay?

[ Her tone doesn't match his at all, pushing calm. ]

Rest your sword, paladin, she is not unwell. I haven't checked in on her lately, but she's the surviving sort, I'm sure.

I never said I was a Paladin.

[ Notes of suspicion slip into his tone. ]

Why did you call me that?

[scatmaam]

You said you were seeking paladins, and that they wore armor similar to your own. I intuited that you were, yourself, a paladin.

Are you saying it was incorrect? [ She wouldn't be terribly surprised, either way. Without the Wisdom of Dun Scaith, she had only human intuition to rely upon, but she felt it was a pretty reasonable conclusion to reach. ]

[ Although the face is familiar, he'd spent the previous month in hiding, not because of anything going on between Dorchacht and Aefenglom, but because the moons had wreaked havoc on him and trying to regain some sense of normalcy with the changes they wrought had been hard. Is still hard. It's also why he's sticking to text for now. Shiro would understand if he knew, or so Lance wants to think. With all the rain, this month is going to be hell for him. ]

Allura and Keith are fine, as far as I know. Don't ask me where to find them though, because I honestly can't tell you. I don't think the others are here. If they are, I haven't seen them.

[ The identity of the other is not immediately apparent, but they knew Allura and Keith. It was the second assurance he’d gotten on Allura but the first on Keith. He hadn’t known Keith was here until now. ]

Can I ask you how you know them? How long they’ve been here?

How do I know them? Um, let's see. I was in the same class as Keith, and he got us all in trouble and made us have to run drills all the time, then he got kicked out. And I know Allura because she fell outta the sleep pod and into my arms. They've been here... longer than me.

But seriously, dude, this is Lance.

[ Halway through the message: ]

Lance?!

You're here too?

Only because I wound up in a really lousy hall of mirrors. If I could pick where I ended up, it definitely wouldn't have been here. And I think I'm coming down with something so I might steer clear of you guys for a while til it goes away okay? That way nobody else catches it. Honestly, I wouldn't wish this on anybody.

[ Or until he comes to terms with the fact that being part mermaid reject is his new normal, and he's definitely anything but contagious. ]

[ There's a part of Keith that could hardly believe it- having thought he'd lost Shiro again. Knowing that the other had gone home, was safe- it hadn't eased the aching in Keith's chest, hadn't made him feel any better about missing the other. The other's face makes his breath catch, his heart tighten sharply in his chest. But-

But.

Something is wrong.

Shiro, he... he hadn't looked like this, last he'd seen him. And he would have remembered being here... wouldn't he? When the video from his end clicks on, he hopes he manages to keep the shaking from his voice. Forces a smile that he isn't sure he feels. Unsure, even as he's so grateful, too. ]

Former Red Paladin of Voltron here, reporting for duty. [ It sounds... stupid, even to his own ears. But he doesn't know what else to say. Where does he even start?

His voice softens, expression softens. Smile taking on a more melancholy edge. ] It's good to see you, Shiro.

[ The familiar voice snaps him into action and before he even has a chance to confirm through video he’s answering the call. ]

Keith?!

Is that you?!

[ There’s a sense of relief he didn’t know he was carrying until the video pulls up and he see’s the person on the other side. ]

Are you okay?

[ Something heavy eases off his shoulders. ]

[Oh. Shiro is back? That's... He isn't sure if he's ever known of someone being pulled back through their mirror and showing up again. And he... doesn't seem to remember being here, so treating him like he knows him (even if only vaguely, by association) is going to make things weird.

He's not sure if this is going to be a good thing or not. Keith had been devastated after he lost him the first time.]

Hey, uh. Hi. I'm- I hope Keith has already messaged you? I mean, he probably has, but. If not, he's- you know, around. I'm his roommate.

[ Shiro stares at the message, his mind filtering through the facts as quickly as they come. He's still trying to process the mechanics of this world so excuse him if he's a little slow to catch up. ]

He got a hold of me, but thanks for letting me know.

You said you were his roommate?

[thisisamazing]

Oh, good! I mean, that's good. He's probably happy to see you. [It takes some effort not to tack on an 'again'. It's fine. He'll fumble through this. He'll not make a total idiot out of himself.]

Yeah, I'm Hiccup. Hiccup Haddock. Keith and I built a place at the edge of the woods, since neither of us, uh, wanted to live in the city. It's- you know, it's more room for Kosmo, and for my dragon, too.

[ Hold up. Back up. ]

Did you just say you have a pet dragon?

I've met Allura! Charming Princess, really. And her ears...

[ Wistful sigh. ]

Not quite sure where she's set herself up, but she's around here somewhere. I would love to hear more about your paladins...

Do you know if she's okay?

[ He's already gotten confirmation from someone but having it validated by an independent party won't hurt. ]

She was the last time I saw her. Doing well, if I'm being honest.

[ Well, she seemed OK to her. ]

[ Not long after she's informed by Lancer about Shiro's arrival she pulls out her pocket watch and, sure enough, there is a familiar face. At least she has had some warning he doesn't remember his previous stint in Geardagas, even if those were slightly different circumstances.

Still, she smiles as she turns on her own feed. ]

I happen to be familiar with many of those names.

[ Then, slowly he breaks out into a warm smile. ]

[ Especially after...well, it'd been a unique situation encountering his clone after she had supposedly already returned his soul to his new body. It's given Allura a new perspective on how this place might operate. ]

I apologize for not being there when you arrived--it can be very disorienting. How have you been faring?

[ A light shake of his head. ]

You don't need to apologize.

[ He's used to taking the plunge and figuring things out on his own, and while he's always willing to accept help, it's not something he expects. ]

Well enough. I've been gathering information trying to fill in the gaps. It's a little odd but not all that different from exploring a new world. [ A small smile. ] Without the obvious back-up.

[ It's still strange to him, inhabiting a living body again. He spent so much time inside the black lion, he almost forgot what it felt like to simply breath. He's settled into his old morning routine, taking it one day at a time. It's something he has to work out on his own and not something to worry the others with. ]
