[The screen pops open, and she thinks she's done this correctly. No device like this exists in Westeros. She's sitting by candlelight though the room is decently lit behind her. Sansa doesn't look relaxed, but not altogether uncomfortable either.]

Hello,

My name is Sansa Stark of Winterfall in a land called Westeros. I have yet to meet anyone who has even heard of it, let alone are from there themselves. [Which is why it's taken her this long to address the network and feel comfortable using her name. Cersei and the Lannister allies do not appear to be here.]

I would wish to learn more of this place, and I believe studying under a Parliament member will aid me in that. I was brought here to help, and I would like to know more of what I am helping with. If any know more of this place or have found books or scrolls to read-- I do not believe there are any maesters here. [There would be less of need with the Coven, she imagines. Mhairi has helped, but she wonders if any have stumbled upon anything.

After all everyone has their secrets, and she's versed in the games people with power can play.]

For books and scrolls - have you tried the university library? They don't usually let anyone but students take things out, apparently, but they've been allowing anyone who takes a part time job there to take things out for a small fee.

I'll admit I've been mostly taking out books on magic, but I'm certain you could find more on history and government.

[She should learn more about magic as well, but she understands the concepts-- for the most part. It's this place's history and government she is used to. She will have to ask more from those she has talked to involved in Parliament.]

We do not have-- university where I am from. Can you tell me what you have learned?

Mostly minor cantrips so far! I've been focusing on healing magic, but also electricity-based spells for offense...? Er, I don't think I'm really that good at them yet, but I'm working at it!

[ ...So, he's mostly been learning magic, yes. ]

I have been trying to learn defensive spells. I am still learning much. [She is still learning what electricity is.]

We should maybe form some sort of, er, study group...? With those of us who are new here...I mean, I've been thinking that would be helpful.

[ But also he's a nerd. ]

I-- I am not often a quick learner, but I would be willing to try. [She feels so out of her depth with this.]

There are quite a few books in the Coven's library. Some of them are in languages I don't understand myself but there are a good deal of them all about the Cwyld if you're interested in learning more about that.

I am interested in it, yes. [She knows what it is like having something dark taking over the world.]

I have spoken to a few in the Coven. I just wanted to see what others were able to find.

Mm, I see. I didn't want to take up too much of Miss Nessie or Mhairi's time so I ended up reading more in the library.

If you like I can share what notes I made with you but it might be things you already know. I couldn't find anything on how the Cwyld originated but I did read that it is a magical infliction of most everything here - land, plants, people and such. It's transmitted mostly through extended touch but just brief contact is still enough. There are even some plants that can infect you from the inside out apparently.

Are they already dead? [She asks grimly, but from experience.]

I don't believe so. Not in the way the undead do anyhow. Let me see, how was it described...

[Maria checks through some bits of paper she used for notes.]

The blight spreads like a bruise from the point of infection and once it has completely spread over the victim and hardens, madness and an unquenchable hunger sets in.

[Yes, there we go.]

It can be treated before that though, just after the initial infection. And it seems Monsters are more susceptible to becoming Shades or Cwyldtid. Witches can't handle the amount of magic they produce as they become Shades and... ah, well. Explode.

[It's grim but what she read so...]

[Them not being undead is at least some good news, though not quite what she’s expecting. She listens as any noble lady who has been given authority does, leaning forward and intently focused.]

So it is our duty to help them? [Coming here has been a whirlwind, and not every bit of information she trusts, but that doesn’t mean she won’t listen. If others believe and their experiences match, mayhaps she is safer here than she had thought.]

If you choose to do so. Helping the infected and trying to keep the Cwyld at bay do seem to be the big concerns within this town.

It may be a start to finding our way back home-- at least to offer something. [An act of valor would catch Parliament's attention.]

Oh? I suppose I hadn't thought of it like that. If we did clear out the Cwyld, there certainly wouldn't be a need for this many Witches or Monsters.

We could make an appeal to Parliament. It might look better.

Ah, I see! I'm afraid I'm not that verse on politics, to be honest.

I have spent my whole life in it.

That's impressive! You must be eager to learn more about the system here then.

I am the eldest daughter to one of the oldest Houses of my home. My brother is a King. [Even if he's bent the knee. It will be hard for her to do the same.]

It is why I am studying under one of the Parliament members. It was something that made sense for me here.

[A pretty face answers Sansa's call.

It takes Justine a moment to make sure that the screen is on and recording. When she speaks, her voice is soft, patient and kind.

There is a window open behind her and the breeze is gently pulling at a set of sheer cloudy curtains.] I don't know how much help I can be but I am a fan of books and I've begun to look at the library here and I've found a few small used bookstores.

I intend to continue my search. If I find something that could be of use to you.

That would be kind, my thanks. I am looking for any of the histories, even what might be considered stories. [This is how she can help, to be effective in being a diplomat here.]

[Justine's lips quirked up on one side but the expression is just shy of a smirk.]

I assume by stories you mean legends and folklore? [She inclines her head in a delicate nod.] I was planning to gather books about that as well. For my own interests too. I don't plan overlook something just because the people here say it isn't true. [The world she lives in is 'made up' in her world, the product of fiction and legends. Some were turned to fantasies and stories on purpose, others because the world refuses to see how the world truly is.

Either way, Justine doesn't plan to disregard any detail of this world.]

I am of the same thought. We might know more of what we are stepping into here. [Though stories can be just as full of myth and lies, it is better to at least have the information available.]

I think so too.

[Justine pauses briefly.]

I also truly love reading. There is nothing more magical than a good book. [She's always had a weakness for the written world. More often than not, it's more pleasant than reality.]

Books are rarer where I come from, though we held what records we could in the North. Stories were more common.

Writing and copying texts is a little easier with magic.

[Magic or technology.]

Perhaps we might find more at the Coven's library though I'm sure you've already made plans to look there. They likely have the most expansive works.

I would not know. Magic is all but gone in Westeros.

I was going to try the Parliament's library, if I am able to gain access. I have talked to Ainsley as well-- about the history of this place.

If you find out what came first, witches or monsters, please let me know. The research I've done so far suggests that monsters have always been around but I don't know about magic or the governing body here.

Most governments cannot survive for more than a few centuries before folding beneath their own weight. [It's a fact of history. Nothing lasts forever.] It's possible that the witches had taken power from the monsters.

I've found tensions between the two groups for as far back as I could read.

I have already learned the government's history here. [She says simply, almost flatly. Sansa understands how it works, how people come to power, how power works. If there was any hope in returning home, she needed to get in with Parliament.

She doesn't divulge any further for right now that. She doesn't mean to purposely separate herself, to withhold information. But she still feels alone here, and she is still trying to find her footing. Who can she trust here? She is not sure if its the government, yet. Not all people in power are power hungry, but she needs to know how she feels about all of it before she opens up about it.]

[Justine doesn't mind Sansa's silence. She can discover the details on her own, it isn't like she's done it before and the White Court is far more dangerous company. What worries her is how the parliament rose to power and the history of that balance.

It's rarely and altruistic action.]

I don't mean the current government.

[She sighs softly. Oh well. Perhaps Sansa's request to share information hasn't been earnest.]

I understand not trusting anyone from this world but you should find one person you can trust. No one can live alone. [This much, Justine is saying from experience.]

I already have. [But she knows that she escaped King's Landing with help. She escaped the clutches of her husband with help. Sansa has had to depend on herself many times, and even if she was a part of things much larger than herself, she knows at the end of the day even Littlefinger helped her. It doesn't exactly help Christine's cause, but she knows she did offer to at least relay stories.]

There were kings before the Parliament. But the last king was deposed. Where the Coven stands was his old castle. The witches have been around since at least then.

[Justine nods her head gently.]

I wonder. [The pad of her finger trails along her lower lip as she slips into her thoughts.] Was the previous king a witch? I'm sorry. I can look into it myself. But thank you for speaking with me.

There is a lot to learn about this world.

[Not just where the power lies but everyone's end goals. Justine generally assumes the worst in people.]

That I do not know about. Yet, at least. [Learning more about their current processes has been more her focus, but she is aware of their former monarchs and what happened.]

[Justine hesitates then decides that it's best to explain her nervousness.]

I've found, through my research, that witches might have the ability to turn people into monsters. I don't know for sure. [She'd been researching vampires and if they can turn people.] I need to look into it more but monsters go feral if they aren't able to absorb magic and calm down.

That is why I ask about the king.

They called him 'the Dastard'. All I know is they did not think well of him. [Something she is used to.]

[ It appears that several others have given her the appropriate direction towards the university library, and having skimmed through some of the records he has a basic understanding of their current world. But there's no fun it outright giving someone information, especially when they seem so adamant of finding out themselves, so he gives her an offer.

His voice is velvet smooth when it leaves the receiver, purposely suggestive despite his words alluring to nothing indecent: ] The university is a good place to start. The Parliament do have a record archive, however, with information of the city.

I am pretty familiar with the Parliament, but I know little of the university. We do not have them where I am from. [But government she can understand.]

A university? They're pretty common... [ -- at least where he's from. ]

Are you from a society where education is taught at home?

Hello, Lady Stark. [ It's a stab at a guess at a title, but the way she speaks gives Yako that impression -- she certainly doesn't come off as a 'Miss.' ] I'm Yako Katsuragi. I think most people have covered your main options.

And actually, I had a request. If you'll be working under a Parliament member, that means you'll have access to Parliament Records, right? If it's not too much trouble, could you look something up?

[She gives a tight smile in response to his greeting.] It is well met.

I am not sure how much access I am granted, but depending on what it is, I can try.

I don't know if you recall, but a few people were asking Miss Nessie and Miss Ainsley about a dream they had before coming here.

I had something similar, and one of the parts of the dream I remembered was a name -- "Dewaint Forest." When I asked Miss Nessie about it, she said it was a place that was mentioned a couple of times in the Coven's records, but she couldn't find anything more. She suggested I try to look at the libraries or Parliament Records to see if that comes up at all.

I had that dream, too.

[She falls quiet for a moment. This is the closest she's come to an answer about it.]

I will see what I can find.

Do you really think that's why we were brought here? To help people, I mean.
