[ His video is set up so he can clearly show his entire face on the network as he talks. The camera seems steady, and he is leaning forward, propping his chin on the palm of his hand as he talks. His expression seems almost annoyed, though not serious. ]

Everyone has seemed rather upset. I guess for good reasons. Mostly, at least.

[ There's the slightest pause, as if he's trying to figure out the best way to explain it. ]

But, with that, I think we need to start looking forward, and I feel like an overdue distraction might be the best way for us to take the first step.

[ He closes his eyes, and tilts his head slightly. ]

A party. Something fun where people can dress nice. Something like a masquerade, I guess. Or a formal party of sorts. I guess it would depend on what others are interested in or what the participation will be.

If I see interest, then I don't mind starting to put stuff together.

Maybe it would be a good time to make amends if you hurt anyone. We could use an unoccupied larger house.

But, I wouldn't want to do it alone, so there is also that.

I agree. They have a lot of reasons to celebrate, but none that I've seen recently. My motivation is less the time of year and more the recent events.

But the timing seems to align nicely.

[ Might make pitching the idea easier. ]

Well, in truth, it seems they have very few reasons to celebrate, but they do it anyway. [Like. A lot. And while she's not adverse to all the free booze that tends to flow through there, they do a lot of partying for a society on the edge of oblivion.

Though maybe, what better way to take your mind off it?]

I see. I saw some people talking about home traditions, and this is their new year. I recall that being a lot of cause for celebration - despite the plague barking at the doors, they survived another year.

A New Year of living is always a good reason to celebrate. Their city has survived. I always liked New Years parties at home. No reason to not enjoy one here, too.

[ Look, he likes parties for similar reasons. It's easy for him to turn on the socializing. And it's far more relaxing than other options. ]

Yes. And perhaps some levity will be welcomed considering the goings-on of the past few months. [At first this place seemed to be all parties, and now it's... uh. Parties and angst, and honestly, Maria would prefer more drunken nights on the town to nasty business with human...Monster trafficking and the like.]

I know a good party can improve morale sometimes. Hopefully it's the same here.
