As so many people ask questions, advertise, or whatever on this thing I figure I have nothing to lose doing the same.

You see I have a particular problem. A pest problem. I'm looking for creative ways to rid myself of this little bug that seems super intent on sticking around. Normally I wouldn't bother with something like this but my usual methods of getting rid of unwanted things?

if you're asking what's the easiest way to get rid of someone, it's murder. i have a feeling that's not the answer you're looking for, though.

This is that deeply petty man I mentioned before, and if anyone comes as close to being as much of an expert on dealing death as I am, it's certainly him.

He's also probably spent an exceptional amount of time figuring out how to rid himself of another himself. He'll steer you right.

there is someone here who is also "me". if it weren't for my monstrous changes and my tattoos, it would be difficult for most to tell us apart at first glance. in a shared dream before i arrived, i killed him. after i showed up here, we fought and tried to kill each other again.

it's a scenario that plays out time and time again. two sides of the same coin, two halves of a whole trying to fight and kill each other. polar opposites that shouldn't be able to exist together.

so try to kill each other. see what happens. my lighter side and i formed a truce for the sake of my bonded and...it's only gone well from there. the only way to find a solution is to fight.

Were you both a single entity at one point?

technically, yes. history only knows one true version of "us".

[ Heroic Spirits are a lot. Alter Servants are even more than that. It's difficult for him to concisely (and carefully) explain just what he and Caster are. ]

My "pest" is the person who literally holds half of my heart. We used to be the same person but were split apart years ago.
Never tried seriously killing him before.

what "we" are isn't as dire as that. "we" are the same person, the same heroic spirit, but i am an impossibility. i am the darker side, what would have happened if "we" had broken and given up everything in the name of strength. he is also not the true version of who "we" are. he is what would have happened if "we" had lived longer and become a druid instead of dying a warrior's death. he is simply another possibility, a different class vessel for who "we" are. i am a splintered, fractured piece, corrupted and twisted by someone's wish on the holy grail.

i could have killed him if i'd chosen to. we are now...on good terms. how far we've come has taken time, of course. i still recommend seriously trying to kill him, just to see what happens. it may change the course of everything. it's worth the chance.

I suppose killing Ventus here wouldn't do me any good. We likely wouldn't be able to merge completely with the limitations on our own magic.

yes. we were summoned to the same place by the same master.

and if i had killed caster, i wouldn't be where i am now. fight and struggle so you're forced to see what could happen. get to a point of desperation...it took me finally caring for someone else to make a truce possible. that would have be impossible before coming here.

a fight is what sparked an understanding about "our" existence...it might do the same for you.

no, don't be ridiculous. i told you a fight is what led to our understanding.

Yet you decided to just get along with each other anyway? No more bad blood between you?

[ It's so complicated. It's so fucking complicated. Berserker almost regrets saying anything about this because of how complicated it is. So he decides to just leave out anything about his Bonded making him feel emotions again and his friendship with his lighter side making him seek out a truce. It's simpler if he boils it down what started it, even if it's not entirely what ended their animosity. ]

the best way to understand someone is by fighting them. a wise woman told me that and it's never been wrong.

[ Yeah probably for the best not to say anything like that. Feeling emotions - someone else's emotions - isn't really high on Van's list of things that he wants to be able to do again. ]

I'll give it a shot. If anything giving him a deserved beating will put me in a better mood.

[ It wasn't high on Berserker's list, either, but it sure happened and there's nothing he can do to reverse it. Oh well!! ]
