As so many people ask questions, advertise, or whatever on this thing I figure I have nothing to lose doing the same.

You see I have a particular problem. A pest problem. I'm looking for creative ways to rid myself of this little bug that seems super intent on sticking around. Normally I wouldn't bother with something like this but my usual methods of getting rid of unwanted things?

Well. It's not working.

There is a method I didn't previously consider.
The other half might not be needed. Wouldn't have to be in on it.
All I need might be someone willing. Someone with enough Light.

UH... HUH.
YOU KNOW, THAT'S A STRANGE THING TO SAY!
STRANGE AND A LITTLE OMINOUS.
ESPECIALLY SINCE IT WOULD MAKE A ONE AND A HALF PERSON...
AND FINDING SOMEONE WITH ENOUGH 'LIGHT' MIGHT BE THE TRICKIEST PART.
AEFENGLOM IS HALF NAMED FOR THE CLOUDS.
YOU MIGHT HAVE TO GO LOOK FOR SUNNIER SKIES, IF LIGHT'S THE SECRET INGREDIENT.

Ominous, perhaps, but not so much strange.
Where we come from, everyone is comprised of both Light and Darkness.
I am the Darkness that he once held and he is the Light.
So if it can't be my other half, it would have to be something that can replace this missing component.

OH, SO IT'S A DIFFERENT SORT OF NORMAL... EVERYONE FROM YOUR WORLD WOULD HAVE IT.
IS ANYONE ELSE HERE FROM YOUR HOME?
AND... OH NO!
IF YOU'RE BOTH SUPPOSED TO HAVE BOTH, BUT DON'T...
ARE EITHER OF YOU GOING TO GET SICK??

My other half will be fine, believe it or not.
His condition is better than my own for reasons I'm not getting into.
There are other people here from there, of course.
Though I have little reason to want to seek them out either.

WHEW! IT'S A RELIEF HE'LL BE FINE.
I HOPE YOU'LL BE FINE TOO.
BUT, I DON'T KNOW. IF YOU'LL FIND ANYONE ELSE MADE OF 'LIGHT.'
PEOPLE BACK HOME SAY... MONSTER SOULS ARE MADE OF COMPASSION, LOVE, AND HOPE.
NOT LIGHT OR DARKNESS.
AND MONSTERS DON'T EVEN HAVE MAGIC HERE, SO WHO KNOWS!

[ There's a pause, if only because "I hope you'll be fine" is just so strange to read. No one actually cares about that, right? ]

I'll just have to find out. Or maybe there's something else other than just Light.
Though I can't say I've heard that of monsters. If that's what is supposed to make your existence, then what do they say humans are made of?

THEY SAY...
THAT NOBODY KNOWS.
HUMANS DO TERRIBLE THINGS TERRIBLY OFTEN. SO THEIR SOULS AREN'T -JUST- THOSE THINGS.
I'M SURE THEY DO HAVE SOME...
BUT THEIR SOULS ARE SO POWERFUL. WAY MORE POWERFUL THAN MONSTER SOULS. THERE MUST BE OTHER STUFF IN THERE, TOO.

More powerful, you say? Now THAT'S interesting.
Oh don't get me wrong. Humans really ARE capable of some pretty terrible things.
However I believe that just about anyone is, depending upon the situation.

WELL... YOU'RE NOT WRONG.
MURDER... ARSON... JAYWALKING...
EVEN MONSTERS COMMIT ALL SORTS OF CRIMES. PLUS OTHER, NOT ILLEGAL BUT VERY RUDE OR HURTFUL ACTIONS.
BUT THE SOUL PART IS REAL!
HUMAN SOULS LINGER AROUND AFTER DEATH. AND MAKE, AND BREAK, MAGIC BARRIERS.
MONSTER SOULS JUST SORT OF... DISINTEGRATE. WE'RE BAD AT DYING. OR VERY GOOD AT IT.

Jaywalking...
Why wold you WANT to linger after death?
Doesn't that seem sort of pointless?

NO WAY!
I MEAN, I WOULDN'T WANT TO LINGER FOREVER.
ESPECIALLY NOT WITHOUT A BODY...
THAT SOUNDS EVEN WORSE THAN LIFE AS A GHOST.
BUT WHO DOESN'T WANT TO HEAR FINAL GOODBYES, FROM DEARLY DEPARTED LOVED ONES?
I KNOW I'D WANT TO GIVE THEM, IF I COULD.

AND, MORE THAN THAT...
THERE'S THIS BARRIER, BACK HOME, THAT TAKES SOUL POWER TO BREAK.
HUMAN SOULS WERE THE ONLY ONES POWERFUL ENOUGH TO DO THE TRICK.

I wouldn't recommend it, no.
There are some people who can at least sense ghosts, right?
All that aside, what is that barrier for? Why did it need broken?

WELL, SURE. ANYONE CAN SENSE GHOSTS!
WHEN THEY'RE NOT INVISIBLE.

AS FOR THE BARRIER...
IT TRAPPED MONSTERS UNDERGROUND.
A WHOLE KINGDOM, IN A SINGLE MOUNTAIN, FOR GENERATIONS...
TALK ABOUT A HOPELESS PLACE.
THE BARRIER NEEDS BREAKING SO EVERYONE CAN GO FREE!
AND NOT JUST KIDNAPPED BY MIRRORS TO ANOTHER WORLD.

So that's what you want then?
To break out and be free?
To interact with humans?

I MEAN,
EVERYONE WANTS TO BE FREE.
OR THEY'RE INDIFFERENT TO IT. BUT, WOULD LIKE THE OPTION!
I THINK I'M SET ON HUMAN INTERACTION.
IT HASN'T BEEN ALL IT'S BEEN CHALKED UP TO BEING.
