QUESTION:

When considering patronising a shop, do you prefer when it has a name that makes it easy to understand exactly what is offered there, or one that is "creative"?

How inventive. I can easily envision myself becoming a patron of your business. It is frustrating being unable to use magic freely, but I am finding there are plenty of alternative avenues for a Monster to wield magic on their own... at a cost, of course. But magic always comes at a price, doesn't it? This would be yet another way for it to be accessible for us.

I think I know who your partner must be. He tattooed a portion of my skin when I was in Dorschacht and wanted an extra, hidden measure against Witches who tried to compel me to do things against my will. It was quite effective. I would like to extend my thanks for that.

We hope to be one of those alternate avenues, as you say. The goal is to allow for longer-lasting enchantments that are easier to use and instantly reliable. You wouldn't have to worry about forgetting your spell scroll at home or anything like that.

I'll let him know. The usefulness of his skills in Dorschacht is what inspired me to research this further.

I can only carry so many enchanted objects and materials with me before I start to get weighed down. In the interest of expanding inventory space, this seems like an incredibly viable option. Since I am personally invested in your venture's success, would you be horribly opposed to my support? At the very least, I could serve you and Caster with financial backing.

They've had some less than pleasant encounters and Waver has only the vaguest, unhappy recollections of doing something really embarrassing some weeks ago when the strange mist hit. Still, he's genuinely pleased to find out that Soren is so interested in this venture Waver has been pouring his passion into lately.

This is exactly the goal: to help Monsters, especially those who can't do any magic or used to be able to but now can't, like himself. ]

We can decide upon the amount based on the extent of your need and the breadth of my resources. Out of curiosity, what other areas are you seeking support?

That depends on your skills.

Right now, we largely just need some help setting up. Literal setting up, as in setting up and organising the shop itself in the physical locale, as well as setting up book-keeping and logistics.

I'm afraid we don't have the money to pay any actual employees, though. Not with any regularity.

I'm sure that many of my skills as staff officer of a mercenary company could transfer over well to the smooth and efficient operation of a business. I've been in charge of managing its resources, securing useful information that endows effective decision-making, writing and analyzing reports... I have a few years of experience performing those duties. I have a knack for researching and was once talented in the magical arts of my world.

[What is this, a resume?]

I understand that you don't yet have the means to compensate work. However, should you choose to enlist my support, I might be satisfied with services in exchange. My support is not a mere act of charity.

What was your speciality when you were a mage?

Wind magic primarily, among other offensive elemental spells. Here in Talam, my strengths would be classified under the school of evocation.
