Does anyone else think it's strange that we go from a mist that makes people go feral, to a blizzard that shorts out witch magic, including on the wall, in less than a few months? And we don't have a clue what's going on in the city we practically turned upside-down these days.

It all seems a little suspect. The timing of it.

How vulnerable is this city going to be if these periodic short-outs turn into a prolonged magical blackout?

[Hey look, it's Captain Paranoia with fresh conspiracy theories. What's the Aefenglom version of a tinfoil-hatter?]

Very, I should imagine. But that's really on the city's leadership to sort out, isn't it?

There's a few dozen of us, at most. Although I suppose we could try to do some sort of daring-do and take over the city...

It'd take a lot of work.

It might just be fate at work. We're the heroes of the story, after all.

The whole planet is dying
Are we supposed to think this city will be immune just because we're here ?

Breaking news, local man discovers definition of a clusterfuck.

I mean, weren't a bunch of those things orchestrated? We've got all these parties and festivals because eat, drink, and be merry! Tomorrow we might die. Anywhere you go, if things are fucked up and chaotic, like "some plague is actively trying to end the world", some other cunt is going to be trying to take advantage. Cases in point.

Part of the same process, I think. It's big and scary and who's problem is it, anyway, when we could be picking out outfits for the next dance at the end of the world?

( all aboard the cynical paranoia train, TOOT TOOT. )

"Ohhh that's for the governmentttt" because that works out super well, every time.

Strange, but no surprise. This city and the locals haven't exactly left me feeling real impressed with their efforts since I got here.

[Oops, did she type that out loud?]

Bet that witch from the other city's still got a bug up her ass. Isn't she some sort of magical savior?

She might have had a partner. If she was able to do that much to their city, she couldn't have done it all alone.

Or maybe a sympathizer has some other plan for us. All I'm saying is it's a bit too easy of a coincidence. Getting rid of one threat doesn't mean the rest learn their lesson.

I don't know much about magic, but it might be an experiment.

That... We could just be in the target zone. I guess it's lucky that not all of us need magic the same way. Not that I'm crazy about the reason why, but half of the city seems to be calmer then the other half.

Or a test to see if magic can be manipulated on a wide scale? Maybe they aren't trying to turn it off.

Well, it'd probably be easier to make things equal if one side weren't literally the monster half. I'm not sensitive, but it doesn't exactly give you a lot of confidence.

You never know what the purpose could be. They could be trying to control witches and only got that far. It's usually about control with people like that.

Great. And there's no cure? No offense to the natives, but I'd rather just be myself and not a freak version.

Shooting theories is at least shooting something. I feel like I'm running in circles here.

[Wait.]

Where I'm from the weather changes more than some people change clothes.

It cannot be the same people. They wouldn't dare cut off their most precious weapon against all of the outsiders on their shores. Unless these witches suddenly decide to be less reliant on their magecraft to uphold everything in their world.

Given what I've heard about the other city and the information I gathered, they'd be equally affected in this storm, so rule them out of your planning.
