Hey folks. I just wanted to give the heads up that I'll be conducting lessons in various applications of practical magic throughout the month, starting tomorrow. Everyone is welcome, and no charge, not right now. I'm still experimenting.
Likely the locations will change from day to day, but we'll start by meeting at the local cafe, the Winking Puca, likely head to my place or outside of the wall. Depends on how explosive my lesson is for the day.
Questions, suggestions, comments, drop them here, I'll get back to you.

Thanks for the thumbs up. Thumbs it up isn't a phrase I've heard of though.

[ This is absolutely true though he is kinda cheating tho. For all his "really 2000 years old" schtick, it's dates only. He's been dead majority of the time, sans the summons ]

[He's absolutely cheating. And she's giving him a hard time, for being old herself. But that's a secret, of course.]

[ He makes it sound almost casual, but it's true ]

I'll just keep looking for grays in your hair.

I've got good genes, I don't expect them for at least next 30 years. So you're gonna have to wait a little bit.

If this means you're cool with that...

[ It is a noble quest, regardless ]

In privacy of course. And at great length.

Out of curiosity: what do you mean by practical magic? Will you focus on universal spells, or is the purpose of this class to share useful knowledge/spells across multiple disciplines?
text;
But it's more of the latter, as well as practical learning instead of sitting in a class room, attending lectures. It's a different learning style.

Ah, I see what you mean. It's more of a lab/workshop setting vs. a lecture. What gave you the idea to hold these lessons?

But yes, more like that. I got the idea after speaking to witches who are more into action, and monsters who don't seem to know what witches are capable of.
And realizing too that Monsters don't go to Coven classes when they can learn alchemy- this seems like an oversight.
I'm hoping doing this more hands on will encourage people to learn. Not to mention, if they're enjoying themselves, they're more likely to remember what they've learned.

Tangent aside, there really is a lot to take in when it comes to magic. I've found that instructors in the Coven assume a certain basic level of knowledge that Mirrorbound just don't have, especially those from worlds where magic doesn't exist. It's woven into the day-to-day in a way that's difficult to quickly synthesize and pass down to outsiders. Such as Monsters and alchemy, or the use of paper spells or physical charms that can be activated by non-Witches.
Sorry. That was another tangent. Anyway. It sounds like it will be an interesting class.

Though I do welcome the debate at another time.
But yes, I try to do a quick assessment for everyone, see what they're up to speed on because of it, see what they want or need to know before going forward.
Still-It's my hope you'll find the classes interesting. You, and whoever else decides to give this a shot.
