Not qualified? Have you, perhaps, not often been spoken to? Well, let's see . . .

( his favorite words? he doesn't often think of them in that sense, so it takes a few moments for him to decide what sorts of things he likes. )

I like the sort of words where the sounds stay with you for a little bit, as if they're reluctant to leave. The long o and i in moonlight; the sinking l and g of linger . . . The way the word specter gradually dies on your lips at the end of it, the way the word ghost does not.

Do you have favorite words, perhaps? I can read them aloud to you to see if you like how they sound.

You did do that. Very well done— I hadn't thought to put them together that way. It's quite a poetic sentiment, too; one I relate to well.

Hm hm, now, let's see what I can do with yours.

Perhaps . . . "At the desk of the library sits a wolf in the skin of an angel. It guards a treasure of noodles deep in its archives, hidden by a complex contraption of spiders and gaskets." It sounds a little like the start of a story, doesn't it?

( can you even have a contraption of spiders and gaskets? you can now, because it's poetic. )

Hmmm. It sounds a bit ominous, doesn't it?

( "ominous" is unfortunately his aesthetic, but he continues on. )

But I like to think it has a happy ending. Or . . . perhaps it would be better to say, I prefer happy endings— and, as the forger of this story, I'll take care to ensure it has one. Most people prefer happy endings, I imagine.

Kuku. I haven't done much worthy of thanks, young one. ( rei, referring to everyone as this by default regardless of its veracity, ) We should all strive for happy endings, shouldn't we? For ourselves, and for others. Happiness enjoyed alone is not something very happy at all, in my opinion.

i have been treated very well! i was scared at first because everything is so strange and new but now i am just happy. all the people in the watch say hello and answer questions, and all the people outside the watch look at me and talk!
