Hi everyone. I'm looking for some information or whatever. I guess it's mostly directed at witches, but I know some monsters were mages back home too and I'm not going to turn away any input.
Anyway, how do you do magic? Like, using runes or chanting spells or waving your hands around or anything else. The focus or whatever, the thing you do to make the magic happen. What is it? And how did you pick it?
I've tried about a billion different things and nothing is clicking, I need some ideas.

Wait, so you mean I'm basically changing one kind of energy into another? Like how a lamp changes electricity into light? That makes WAY more sense than anything anyone else said yet. It sounds like something I'd learn in school.
Still not sure how to make it change but like, if I was a lamp, I'd need a cord and a lightbulb, so I just need to figure out what the cord and the lightbulb is for this. Runes probably. Wow. That makes so much more sense.

I'm glad it's helpful to you.
Different spells need different components. You just need to figure out what you need for certain things to achieve your desired outcome.

Components? Like ingredients? I thought that was potion making.

Some more complicated spells require catalysts and more set-up. Others are simpler and do not. They may require an incantation or runes.
To continue the example regarding electricity, you might consider how one would differently set up and power something like a single room vs. an entire stadium or concert venue.

Ah, that makes a lot of sense too. Different tools for different tasks?
