[It is coming up to Sora’s third month in this world so his monster changes are well underway. Unfortunately, the one that Sora woke up to this morning had him yelling at himself so loud when he saw a mirror that he fell backwards and nearly clonked his own head on the bathtub.

He might need a little help with this one...]

Umm. Hi! I’m Sora. I’m a puca in case you were wondering what’s up with the big giant ears.

[The stream shows a brunette boy with long matching brown-coloured rabbit ears. He’s smiling but there’s some obvious worry in the tilt of his head. Furthermore, Sora’s eyes seem to be a sharp and glowing gold. Weren’t they a nice ocean blue before?]

I was wondering if anyone had any sort of spell or charm or potion that can change my eye colour? Hmm, I don’t mean anything that will wear off overnight or something?

[Sora’s not really comfortable with the idea of having naturally yellow or gold eyes. There’s a little bit of trauma backstory attached to that. Yikes.]

I think I need something a little more permanent. Is there anything that can change my eyes back to blue? Anything at all? Please?

[Is there even anything that can change or mask something like this? Is there any way for Sora to reverse just this one monster trait? He’s fine with rabbit ears! And a vegetarian diet (goodbye bacon…)! And even getting itchy fur and a cottontail! But gold eyes? Say it ain’t so!

What if he just wears a blindfold for the rest of his life...]

Well, I don't think they mean you're cursed here. But you might end up cursed if you try playing with shady magic to change your looks.

Are you sure? With how many witches there are and how much magic can do...!

It's just super weird to look in the mirror and see this eye colour. Even if I'm not actually cursed.

[Like seeing an actual monster...]

I'm sure. Magic always has a price. For smaller spells, usually just some of the witch's energy is fine. But for something bigger or more permanent...I'm not so sure.

[He rather Sora not accidentally curse himself ok]

I'm sure it is. But it's not like it changes who you are, Sora. And you wouldn't judge someone here that has yellow eyes would you?

No, of course not.

[Sora's ears droop a little but Elliot makes a wonderful point. He knows the other boy is saying what is logical and for Sora's safety. Even is it makes Sora's shoulders slouch.]

I guess I should just try to get used to it myself, huh? I don't want to hurt anybody.

Yeah, sorry. I know you wanted better news than that. I mean, if there was an easy potion or spell to use, I'd change my appearance too ... so I do get it a little.

[just you know, gotta keep in touch with reality.]

But if it makes you feel better, the person I know with yellow eyes? She was the strongest in our class, and noble in every sense of the word. So it's not bad company to be in.

[It's a little disheartening to hear the logical truth. If they could change their appearances so easily monsters probably wouldn't be having as many issues as they are right now. And yet Sora can't help but still desire it a little bit.]

She was really strong and a noble? I guess that does sound pretty cool.

[Sora rubs one rabbit ear.]

And I'm guessing she wasn't cursed or evil.

Haha, not cursed or evil at all, promise. She's the most honorable person I know. Saved my neck more than a few times.

How did she save you?

[You know what, some real stories about heroic people with yellow or gold eyes might actually help Sora feel better about all of this.]

Well we fought a lot of monsters, and she was always up front fending them off so the rest of us could cast arts from a distance.

But I remember the first day of school, we were doing an orienteering exercise in this old basement and my group ran into a big monster. It was too strong for the four of us to fight off alone, but we got lucky and the rest of our classmates showed up including her. And when there was an opening, she jumped right in and cut off the monster's head.

[And that's what high school is like]

[Sora leans forward. Probably a little too close.]

That does sound really amazing. She sounds super brave!

Haha, well I did attend a military academy for a year. Fighting monsters was part of the curriculum.

[He gives a nod]

She is. She takes studying the sword very seriously, but with the intent of protecting others. Like a knight in shining armor.
