Hey.

[That’s it. One word. Dylas’ voice is low, like usual, but there’s something unsteady about it. Maybe it’s nerves from using the pocketwatch, a device he’s still not used to, or...well.]

I know people have been...changing. It’s, uh. Not great. But...do the changes hurt for anyone else? There’s this spot on... my friend’s arm that’s all grey, and it hasn’t stopped hurting ever since it showed up. Does anyone else have that?

I’m asking for my friend.

[He’s not asking for a friend.]

[OOC; Dylas is infected by the Cwyld after an encounter with some Shades. He’s been hiding it under his clothes, but now his arm is hurting real bad.]

Not on my arm, but when my wings grew it hurt like hell. [America winces just thinking about it, and it's obvious in his voice.] But once it was done it stopped hurting. How long's your friend been hurting?

My friend's only been hurting for a week or so. At first he thought it was a bruise, but it isn't getting any better.

Yeah. Wings are cool, but I don't really want to turn into anything, so it still kind of sucks, too. [It's a complicated sort of feeling.] Maybe if your friend goes to the Coven infirmary they can give them some sort of... Magic change painkillers? They have to have something, right?

...Yeah. Changing into something is...probably not great.

[He has awkward feelings on it, too. He's not even sure how to voice them to a friend, let alone a strange over the phone watch.]

It doesn't hurt that bad. O-or so my friend told me. He can tough it out.

Dude, painkillers exist so we can use 'em. Tell him to go get some! Why just suck it up when modern medicine is there?

Yeah. You're right. I'll make sure to do...to tell him that.

[If America noticed that little slip-up, he doesn't say anything.] The name's America! What about you?

Uh...it's Dylas. But my friend's...shy, so I can't tell you his name.

[He's one terrible liar.]

Well, that's okay! [If America actually believes Dylas or if he's just going with the flow, it's difficult to tell.

Make sure they go get painkillers!

Er. Yeah. I'll be sure to do that for him.

[This guy is awfully excited for painkillers.]

Actually...about that. I was more...asking for me. My friend isn't real.

Oh, yeah, I knew that. People who're really talking about friends make fun of them way more! [This may say something about America's friendships.]

[Dylas is actually surprised by that! But he was so careful...mostly...]

Hmph. I guess you're right about that. Some of my friends are pretty easy to make fun of.

Yeah, friends you can make fun of are the best kinds!

Yeah, they are.

You're pretty chatty, but you're right about that much at least.

[That's...that's a weak attempt at making fun of America. It's sort of his way of saying 'thank you' if you squint.]

And being chatty is how you get friends! [Do not listen to America's advice in this department.]

What if you hate chatting? What do you do then?

Find somebody who likes it and let them do the work for you? [That's clearly the only other option.]
