The Network: May, An Inauspicious Arrival

The Watches Everyone who arrives in an unorthodox way and eventually shows up at the Coven for 'orientation', will receive a strange, watch-like device compliments of the Coven and Parliament. Miss Nessie or one of the welcome wagon crew will give characters a run-down of how to use the various functions and they are encouraged to test them out for themselves. It would be good for them to get in touch with their fellow Mirrorbound, of course! Fourth wall characters will not be able to make their own posts in the communities, so they may use this post to make "network posts" of their own by top-leveling. The log post is right over here.

[True to his word, Nier's there in a matter of minutes, rolling around like a protagonist. Obviously he's on the look out for a floating book, which he doesn't see. So, he starts shouting]

Weiss! Hey Weiss! Where the hell are you?

[bookpunching]

[ guess who is hiding behind a few boxes of fish. this is quite the punishment for him ... he hates fish and fishing so much and yet he is using it to hide himself because he has no idea how to explain!!! ]

Stop shouting. I heard you the first time! [ he can't keep avoiding it. he closes his eyes and shuffles out from behind the boxes. he attempts to make it look natural -- but it hardly looks that. he doesn't have full control over his limbs and flops around. ]

Really, did you roll the whole way here? I'm surprised you didn't end up concussed somehow.

[He turns in the direction of the familiar voice, but the only one over there is some old guy. Not Weiss. So he keeps looking, except then the voice speaks again and he can see it coming from the old guy's mouth. Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.]

Holy shit... Weiss, that you? What the hell happened to you?

[bookpunching]

That is precisely what I wanted to ask you. [ He points his finger at Nier. ] There I was... sitting on a dock... having to sit around while you fished... I couldn't take it anymore and decided to direct my magic down into the water.

[ His eyes close as he crosses his arms. The crossing of his arms takes three-four tries before he is able to do it properly. ] Yet the water swallowed me up instead and spit me out onto the streets of this city... as a human. [ A beat. ] Well, a witch.

[ He opens one eye. He tries to open one eye, and ends up looking like he's squinting at Nier. Oh, for all the-- He drops his arms down at his side in a huff. ] I thought you had come here on your own so had some idea what had happened... but it seems like that was just wishful thinking on my part.

[okayestdad]

[Sorry Weiss, but this is kinda funny? He's not trying to hide the fact he's laughing at him.]

Ha... yeah, I got no clue. I figure there's probably a word here somewhere, right? Just gotta find the thing we're supposed to kill and kill it.

[bookpunching]

[ He doesn't know how to disguise his expressions. So, when Nier starts to laugh, he fills his mouth full of air and puffs his cheeks out like a pufferfish in utter annoyance. ]

Why is it that is the first thing that you think? [ ........ ] I'm sad to say that I agree that might be the only way for us to escape, however. [ Cough. ] However, you ... will not be able to rely upon my magic in the battle.

I'm afraid that I'm about as weak... if not weaker... than when you first pounded me awake.

[okayestdad]

[Nier shrugs.]

Well, you're not a book anymore. Be kinda weird if you started shooting magic from your hands. I mean... unless you were like Emil. But the kid couldn't do that when he was a normal human so. Anyway.

I can handle it, Weiss, don't worry.

[bookpunching]

[ ...................... ]

You're certainly taking this well.

[ He sniffs the air in a way that can only be called indignant. ]

After everything else we've been through, this fits right in if you ask me.

[There's something else too. Something that might be even weirder than Weiss being human.]

And... my kids are here.

[bookpunching]

I can't deny that.

[ He also can't get rid of the sulking tone in his voice.

But all that is thrown to the wayside! ]

Yonah is here?! She's escaped the Shadowlord?! [ A million questions spring up one after the other. He pauses as he squints and leans in. ] Did you say "kids?" As in... more than one? Did you have a child while I was not looking, Nier?

From her point of view, the Shadowlord never took her in the first place. She's still... it's like it never happened, Weiss.

[He loves his little girl so much!! Even if she somehow hasn't aged at all!]

There's my son too. And I guess I technically had him when you weren't looking. We hadn't met then. He died before Yonah was born. But here... hell, he's a grown man. Says his dad died when he was young.

[bookpunching]

She was... she was never taken...!

[ Are there tears prickling in the corner of his eyes? Maybe!! ]

Your son? [ He steps backwards. ] By my pages... [ Ah. Whatever, he is still going to use that phrase. ] I see... so in his world... you are already... [ Weiss can't help but press his lips together into a thin line. ]

A troublesome thing, for certain, but the family is all but gathered. I daresay this is quite a victory for us... and we only had to cross into another world to achieve it.

[okayestdad]

Are you smiling? And it's not even some smug ass smirk, damn.

[Not that he doesn't have a huge grin himself.]

Maybe Kainé and Emil'll show up too. Then it'll be a real reunion. Plus I can't wait to see what she says about all this.

Please... this is a joyous occasion! It doesn't warrant a smug smirk.

[ He holds his hands out and may attempt to shove Nier a little. Excuse!! ]

It would, indeed, be a full reunion. [ But his smile fades slightly. ] Oh, I have no idea what that hussy will have to say! Certainly not anything that I could bear to hear. [ He makes a loud UGH sound. ]

Let's only hope that dear Emil comes. [ He's joking, naturally. He would be quite pleased to be able to see Kainé, too, even if he acted otherwise. ]

You gotta be curious about what string of curses she'll let out when she sees you.

[Nier holds out a hand to Weiss, and his shoulder too if he needs it.]

Come on, let's get out of here before you smell like fish for the rest of your life.

My ears are ringing already.

[ He attempts to lift his hands up to cover his ears but pauses at seeing the hand held out to him. ]

Don't wish such things on me. [ He would be SO MAD if he ends up smelling like fish forever. HE WOULD BE THE MADDEST BOOK IN EXISTENCE. Reaching his hand out, he takes the offered hand. ] I daresay that's an even worse curse than the hussy could ever come up with.
