Network: May, An Inauspicious Arrival

The Network: May, An Inauspicious Arrival

The Watches

Everyone who arrives in an unorthodox way and eventually shows up at the Coven for 'orientation', will receive a strange, watch-like device compliments of the Coven and Parliament. Miss Nessie or one of the welcome wagon crew will give characters a run-down of how to use the various functions and they are encouraged to test them out for themselves. It would be good for them to get in touch with their fellow Mirrorbound, of course!

Fourth wall characters will not be able to make their own posts in the communities, so they may use this post to make "network posts" of their own by top-leveling. The log post is right over here.

oh, that sounds pretty cute! if i had to be any monster, i think i'd want to be one like that.

...that is so not something i ever thought i would say and for it to actually matter.

yeah, it's not everyday that monsters are just ordinary people, huh? It's funny we can just think about it here. i'm supposed to be getting a rabbit tail one of these days too. it's gonna be so weird!

[personal profile] confectionerie 2020-05-09 07:29 am (UTC)(link)
whoa, really? i wonder if that would make sitting uncomfortable...and will you have to get special pants with a hole for your tail to go through?
oathkeeper: <user name=sheme> (△8)

[personal profile] oathkeeper 2020-05-09 04:21 pm (UTC)(link)
yup, i think so. pretty sure i'm going to have to get special made pants and shorts for me all the time when i get it.

i really hope sitting isn't weird. that would be super awkward!

well...rabbit tails are just like big cotton balls, right? so i bet it won't feel weird at all! or you'll just get used to it, like when you have your phone in your back pocket and forget it's there!

ahha that's a good way of looking at it! I guess I'll have to sleep on my side or my stomach too. having a puff ball tail like that

what kind of magic do you think you'll like to learn? aside from making special clothes? i know a lot of witches take all sorts of classes here.

i'm not sure...but i'd like to be able to help and protect people, so maybe abjuration? but enchantment could be fun, too...

honestly, it might just come down to what's easiest for me to pick up on.

protection spells are great! we always need more people who are good at that sort of thing for helping out with the cwyld and outposts and stuff.

was there anything you liked or were good at back home? it might help you pick something up here too

um...i liked to model? that's how i spent a lot of my free time. i probably can't count eating desserts as a hobby, right?

unless...are there spells i could use to make desserts?

[ Baking with magic sounds easier than baking with actual ingredients, somehow... ]

oh trust me, cooking and baking definitely can have magic in them around here.

there's spells for cooking and there's food that makes spells better! so you're in luck!!

wait, seriously?! that's amazing! huh, maybe i can get more into this witch thing than i thought.

i bet that still all takes a lot of practice though, right? i wonder how long before i can make my own creme brulee.

yep! i've had cookies that make me float, some witches really make them, that's for sure!!

the coven has classes and stuff all the time and a lot of the witches here are really nice about helping out. at least my bondmates seem to get all the help they need when they need it. you seem smart, you'll be fine!

[personal profile] confectionerie 2020-05-21 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
that's nice of you to say, but i've never been exactly studious...

[ But he's said something else that draws her attention. ]

oh, right, bonds are what make your magic stable, right? i'm not going to have to drink someone's blood for that to work, right?
oathkeeper: <user name=sheme> (△8)

[personal profile] oathkeeper 2020-05-21 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
keep keep trying, that's what i always say

but yeah, bonds are really great for witches. you should try to find a monster that you trust to help you out. it'll be good for both of you. but don't worry you don't have to do anything weird like that. it's more like a super cool high five

[You just join hands and tell each other vows. Like a weird magical friendship marriage.]

[personal profile] confectionerie 2020-05-22 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
a super cool high five, huh? i think can manage that! one of my best friends is a monster who's been here for awhile, so i guess i could talk to him about it? if it's really not that big of a deal.

bonds are how you make your magic stronger, right? so...does that mean it zaps your energy when someone you're bonded to uses magic?
oathkeeper: <user name=vhazzrhossze site=tumblr.com> (☄6)

[personal profile] oathkeeper 2020-05-25 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)
that's great then! if you've got a friend here then you should be all set! but make sure you get a bond when you can, don't wait around!

hmmm when my bondmates cast their magic i actually feel a lot better. it's like getting sip of an energy drink, i guess? i always feel super awake or happy after they've used a bunch of magic. but it might be different for other monsters? i dunno!
confectionerie: (02)

[personal profile] confectionerie 2020-05-26 05:59 am (UTC)(link)
oh really? that's not how i expected to it to work at all. i guess i'm used to magic that makes you tired the more you use it.

[ Not that she's really getting into the Persona thing yet...even if it probably doesn't matter here. It's not like supernatural things like that would be out of the ordinary in a world like this. ]

it almost sounds too good to be true. like there should be a big But somewhere in all of this.
oathkeeper: <user name=sheme> (12930288)

[personal profile] oathkeeper 2020-05-28 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
yeah, you'd think! i dunno, witches are full of so much magic it must feel pretty good to get rid of it too, right? us monsters are just really good at using it up for them. it's a good system.

i guess the only downside would be that we can only carry three bonds... any more than that can be really bad, apparently. i wish it wasn't like that.
confectionerie: (68)

[personal profile] confectionerie 2020-05-31 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
oh, really? so i need to choose my bonds carefully...thanks for the heads up!

what happens if you have more than three? wouldn't having more connections be a good thing?
oathkeeper: <user name=skymiracle> (13643929)

[personal profile] oathkeeper 2020-06-02 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
that's what i thought too! i thought that if you have more bonds it should be better, right? at least that's how it was back home for me!

but uh, i guess it's supposed to be really tiring if you have more than three... kinda like spreading yourself too thin?
