[Attached is a picture of the shelter with the sign just out of frame. There are dogs, cats, rats, and some native species. Hector's also listed the address of the building, but not the name. Because it's awful. Blame Everett.]

what's wrong with rats? they are very intelligent animals, and they can make great pets if you take the time to train them.

[Hector's medieval too, but he's been sold on rats by his housemate.]

I don't doubt they're smart, but how do you train the little plaguebringers without getting gnawed on?

You feed them so they're not tempted to gnaw.

And here, anything can carry the blight. They aren't any more plague-bearers than any other animal.

I guess I just thought they gnawed out of vindictiveness.

How DO you know if an animal has the blight? I've been lucky and I haven't seen any yet.

Animals aren't capable of malice or cruelty like that. If an animal attacks you, it is to defend or feed itself, or because it is sick.

It's not too hard to tell. Creatures with the cwyld become discolored and disfigured. It it looks shadowy and misshapen, don't let it bite you.

Got it. Sensible advice at the best of times, really.

Do you need folks to help walk the dogs? I'm always glad to take a dog or four.

Yes, the dogs love exercise, so they're always eager for someone to walk them.

That's great. Is there anything I need to do or sign or anything? Some kind of roster? So you know I'm not just coming in trying to steal your dogs.

I'll make a roster, or you can send me a message before you come by so I know to expect you.

[Hector's only had one attempted dog-napping so far, but he managed to thwart it and come to an understanding with the fae culprit.]
