With Monika taking over most of the day-to-day duties running the refugee school and me only really teaching one or two classes a day there, now, I've come to realize I am left with well more free time than I should probably responsibly have.

[ there were reasons for that, of course, but she doesn't go into them. but anyone that's seen her since February already knows why, or can at least reasonably guess. her disability ran a bit further than simple needing a cane to get around. ]

So, seeing a whole new batch of mirrorbound, many of whom are witches new to this world's magic, I figure since I've been here well over a year myself I could

offer myself as a magic tutor!

Personalized, one on one lessons. Any school you could think of, I know at least enough to help teach it by now. But I am especially interested in helping those who have an interest in divination. Astrology has always been my specialty.

I wish I could say it was just generosity, but that can't really take full credit, if I'm being honest. Part of it's boredom, after all.

That's fair, though there are many things one might do to alleviate boredom that don't involve helping other people.

That may be so, but I know what I prefer to do when it comes down to it, and teaching is just a calling I can't ignore, you know?

I understand, yes. It's good to have something that drives you, and from what I've seen you're very proficient.

Enough that my usual self-consciousness doesn't keep me from accepting praise for it, or feeling outwardly proud of it, at least.

How is the school doing now?

It looks in even better shape than it had back in early February. We've not only repaired, but expanded. A small library, a music room that Elliot uses when he can, all sorts of things! Monika helps me keep running things so smoothly that all I really need to do is teach my classes and let the rest of the volunteers handle the other work.

That's good to hear. It's an important place to keep running.

ever thought about teaching, in your spare time? We could always use more help with general education.

[Well. That certainly isn't a question he's been asked before.]

I admit I've never considered it, but it seems a worthy pursuit. It would be my honour.

It's only volunteer work, though, so there isn't much reward in it beyond a small stipend.

[judgementor]

I find that certain kinds of work can be their own reward, don't you?

Even so, you still need to eat.

True enough, but I take up enough odd jobs around the city to pay for that. And I've become quite good at playing cards.

Please don't teach the kids to play cards.

[ not that she really thought he would, but. still. ]
