For those who are Witches, how do you decide what you want to learn first or specialize in?

I was a bit of a jack of all trades back home, you could say. A wildcard. [Heh. Of course only Persona Protags would get that.] I know I could just try everything and see what sticks. But I’d like to hear other opinions, please.

I'm trying to start with abjuration, specifically barriers. It's the closest to the magic I knew back in my world, and that's saved my life before.

I want to learn to make a light to read by after dark, too.

Barriers are definitely good to have. It's certainly saved my life a number of times as well.

Why not just use a candle or a magitech light? Is there a specific kind of light you want?

Kind of. Mostly I'm thinking of something smaller than those, so my housemates won't see it from under the door. It'd be nice to not use matches or have to get up, too, and

They're both very kind and considerate.

Oh. Well, then why does it matter if they see the light under the door?

A personal light would be fun, but if it's not bothering anyone, I don't really see the need for it?

I can stay up pretty late sometimes.
I don't think it'd bother them if they noticed, but they might worry.

Could always just tell them you're up late reading.
