Hello, everyone. I'm Saori and I have an announcement to make. One week from today, I'll be opening Aefenglom's first, at least to my knowledge, izakaya-style bar. Whether you're starting your night off of pub crawling with us, or perhaps looking for a quiet place to wind-down, please visit Izakaya Fushimi in the entertainment district. Our menu includes vegetarian options and sweets along with our rotating specials based on seasonal availability.

I hope to see you there when the doors open on the 16th at 5 pm until 1 in the morning. Thank you for your time.

I have no idea what 'izakaya-style' even means, but if you're opening a new bar, then you've already found your first customer.

To put it simply, izakaya is my culture's type of casual bar. It's common for customers to come in after work and indulge, ordering drinks and food as the night goes on. If I get enough customers, I maybe able to add other options like bottle service and fancier dishes to serve.

Then I'll bring my brother too. And my nephew. I might even bring my brother-in-law for that matter. He's a lot more tolerable when I'm drinking.

Oh my. You've got quite the family here! Yes, they'll be welcome here as well. It maybe small, but I'll be sure there will be space for all of you.

I suppose another bar to haunt is never bad. What whiskey will you be carrying, lass?

I managed to strong arm Bishop into helping me get a variety of whiskey, and other liquors. While Fushimi is a small establishment, I won't hold back on finding the best for my customers.

I should hope not. You'll be competing against my bonny Jill, after all. [ A bright chuckle. ]

And I'd say she's held the advantage for sharing my bed, as well as providing me a good whiskey.

[Ah, so that's how she got the whiskey from that fight tournament. Also Jill has very good taste, in her opinion. Saori just smiles. ]

Oh ho. Good to know. Well, a little competition is healthy for growth. I'm looking forward to opening day even more.

Thank you, Omi! While I've cooked for big groups before, my Bonded's been helping me with the set up since he's got experience in this.

As for the menu, yeah, it's turning out pretty well. I got a mix of both Western and Asian dishes I think everyone's going to like. If things go well, I might be able to add other services in the future. I just hope people don't mind the size since it's on the smaller side.

I don't think anyone will mind at all! It's charming. And the mix of dishes will give some people a taste of home, probably.

I do enjoy new eateries, even I don't know what "izakaya" is. Count me in!

what is the difference between an izakaya bar and a normal bar? does it serve different drinks? is the bar made from izakayas?

An izakaya is a type of drinking establishment from Japan but it's gained popularity overseas. They started off as down to earth bars for workers to unwind after a long hard day of work. Many drinks can be served such as beer, wine, sake and whiskey. The food served can vary based on seasons but the owner's can choose to specialize in a specific dish or cooking style. If there was no alcohol being served, then it can't be an izakaya or a bar.

Not quite. Izakaya aren't inns because they don't provide beds for overnight stays.

It will mostly be wait help. So you'll be taking down and serving the customers' orders, preparing their drinks, and making sure the customers pay their tabs. It will be hard work and there will be times where it'll be fast-paced, but I'll do my best to make sure you don't get overwhelmed.

i have never done that but i am eager to learn. a servant being a servant, so to speak.

They're both places to gather and drink alcohol. Pubs have more food options available and are a lot homelier. Bars are more about the drinking and doing other activities like dancing or taking turns singing popular songs.
