I have a question directed to the Earthlings who were brought here.
Before I came to this planet, my experience with humans was brief. As such, my knowledge of their culture is largely limited and something I have been working at understanding for some time now.
To get to the point: I am curious about human friendship rituals. Is handholding a common practice among friends?
…
And what about kissing?
[AHEM. Not lingering on that one for too long. Definitely asking for a friend and not because she’s been casually smooching her bond for awhile now and still they are acting like it means nothing. As you do.]
I only ask this because I have seen a lot of different behavior since I arrived here that is different from the culture I was raised in and do not wish to misinterpret the meanings. Thank you.

Oh hello! I remember you~!
So, did your bonding ceremony go well?
no subject
Time to be so fucking cool.... ]
i have no idea what you're talking about
[ Nailed it. ]
no subject
Oh, did it fall through? I'm so sorry.
And there you were, trying to be so considerate of your future bonded, too.
no subject
WHY ARE YOU LIKE THIIS??
no subject
I don't know what you're talking about, darling.
Unless.... Are you the "Earthling" she was referring to?
[and, more importantly:] Is your planet really called "Earth"??
no subject
don't call me darling
how am i supposed to know? i'm not in her head, you realize
and yeah, what about it?
no subject
Evidently you don't pay very much attention. You should work on that.
...Really? [no, seriously.] Why is your planet named after dirt?
no subject
[ Since they're gonna be talking about a lack of observation skills >c!! ]
and do i look like an etymologist to you?
besides it's just one name for the planet. other languages call it something different..
no subject
I can't see you, so no judgement on your looks from here.
Really? Huh. Such as? [and, before he asks:] Exandria --my home world-- has always been Exandria, regardless of language. At least, that's what I've gleaned from past studies. Probably comes from being named by the Gods.
no subject
[ Grump grump, don't make this his fault grump ]
apparently it's called tierra in spanish. think shiro said it was chikyuu in japanese. considering we have a planet called uranus in our solar system, it could've been a lot worse
do you only have the one language and culture on exandria then?
no subject
the spanish part)
no subject
Is Spanish your native language? Or just one from your home?
[tierra still means dirt, right]
no subject
and it's one of them! grew up learning both spanish and english
saw your response below, sounds like you've got some pretty neat languages from your world too
no subject
Interesting! I grew up with Common, but learned Elvish later.
I've learned a few more since then. I'm not a polyglot, but I've enjoyed the challenge. And it's been useful in my line of work.
no subject
and yeah pretty much lol
keith can be a little grumpy but he means well, speaking as one of his closest friends
elvish?!
that's SUPER cool! never met anyone who could speak that before
man your world sounds awesome

[ hers, after all, is a pun. even if there's only two people in all of Aefenglom who can currently appreciate it.
There is a short delay where even Vex, not at all an Earthling, can appreciate unfortunate name choices ("Purvan" springing immediately to mind) and may have cackled to herself before responding. ]
When you put it like that, I see your point!
Oh Gods no. We have a lot of different places, languages. Dwarvish, elvish, gnomish, undercommon, draconic, and even celestial and abyssal if you want to go down those particular routes. But when the Gods name something, that name tends to stick.
no subject
so you're not literally a troll then
that's almost disappointing
no subject
Well, I never! :P
Trolls eat humans. And any other race they get their hands on. They're about as picky as they are smart. [ie: not very] So no, I'm most certainly not a troll.
no subject
wait you have real trolls where you're from?
what do they look like?
no subject
Ours are mostly green, and huge - they're relatives to giants, after all. Really long arms, nasty claws, fucking ugly.
no subject
the closest thing on earth to an actual troll is sasquatch
[ By all accounts the absence of trolls on Earth should be a good thing and yet..... he can't quite help feeling it'd be cool to see?? #priorities]
