Do you ever find yourself missing the world you came from before coming here?

But perhaps your home isn't much like mine.
[ It is, and Tataru's told him as much, but uh. He hasn't made the connection yet that they're from the same place. ]

It seems war and suffering is the same no matter where one is. I unfortunately have seen a lot of it.

You have seen war, then. You know what it's like. How can you miss that?

I do however fight for those who are unable to speak for themselves. Those who have cried out for help but their pleas are unheard by those are able to. But I have also seen the good in people: as I would see one cut down an enemy, so have I seen another reaching out to help their fellows rebuild and lend aid when they need it.
So do I miss war? Not at all. Do I miss the people who are wishing to make the land a better place? Absolutely.

...And if those people were here instead of there, would you feel the same? I can't say they would be safer. The Cwyld is still a threat—but a different sort of threat than war.
Would you still miss it? Would you want to go back?

The world might have its share of problems but simply abandoning it is something I refuse to do either. Any world will have its own issues and a peaceful world while something I do wish for, I know it will not be easy.
What kind of person would I be to simply abandon a place I love? After fighting for it because I give a damn, only to flee? Does that not sound right?

[ As Felix has been called more than once since he arrived here, and knowing what he knows of how quickly he abandoned his home in alternate realities... he can't say he disagrees. ]
I respect your resolve, even if I'm not certain I share it. A needless death in service to some higher cause is still a needless death. I don't see it as anything to be proud of.

People are worth saving. That is my cause. Something people SHOULD do without some meaning behind it.

[ In a land of chivalry and knights not unlike Ishgard, Felix doesn't meet many people who think that way. It's all duty and glory and bloody death in its service.
So, hey, she's surprised him. Whoever she is. ]
I only meant that death should not be an end of itself. But to live to protect the people, without pretense... is not such a bad cause. I can respect that.

There is no honorable death and to anyone who says otherwise is lying or believing in the lie.
It seems we are in agreement on the people over the duty, no?

But that is not an easy task. Some would even call it impossible. It is up to you to maintain the strength to see it through... as you've demonstrated here.

I wish you all the luck in your endeavors, stranger. Sincerely.
