[ The voice is a solemn one, if familiar to some. The statement is kept simple, as little else needs to be said. If you know, you know, you know? ]
If you were friend or colleague to a girl by the name of Zelda, you should know that she is no longer within this world. Her scent has left the city, and is not even in the outskirts beyond.
[ It probably wasn't strictly necessary for her to say anything. Even a little trite. But she knew Zelda was connected to the community. It mattered. But that was all she had to say, in the end, too. ]
private text;
I was just thinking about how you two were doing and...
Shit. I'm sorry.

We knew it was a possibility. I accepted it. I always do.

[especially after they just... got together.]
Can I do anything for you? I don't know how all I can help, but I'd at least like to do something.

... be a place I can return to, Jill. That's all I ask.
into action;
[True to her word, Jill went the extra mile and waited for Shadow just outside her home. A home that would seem much bigger now considering it was only being inhabited by the one woman.
It was the middle of the night and she didn't have anything else to do. But honestly, this felt like what she should've been doing. Once Shadow returned, the two went inside and unlike the many nights before, shared a different moment of intimacy together.
Zelda's departure was clearly still on both their minds as the two lay in bed together. For the most part, Jill was content to be a shoulder Shadow could lean on, and quite literally, cry on.]

was she bonded to you?
[And if so...]
do you wish to spar?
no subject
I do. Our usual spot?
text & action
[And thus they change themselves into more comfortable clothes and take hold of their wooden spear. Now they truly are a lancer with an actual lance.
Finally they arrive at the spot they mostly spar. Right outside the city in an area that is remotely safe and Shade-free.]
I figure it is not wise to harp on about matters we both know of. Are you ready?

She set Gae Bold into the earth, and spun her practice spear into position. Eyes narrowed. ]
A warrior is always ready, my friend...
[ Her friend... They really were. She couldn't thank them enough for allowing her this. She'd show her gratitude in her spear. ]

[ And yet... ]
But I suppose you've had worse, right? I have a feeling you'll not let me be too stubborn on this.

[ Seems like there is always so much drinking when someone leaves. But wasn't it always like that? ]
It might feel like a contrary thing to do but— it's not time to be alone.

[ A sigh, not quite defeated but with little energy in it none the less. ]
Let's drink, sing, and remember as she ought to be remembered.

Zelda-san's gone?
[Well, okay, not the most useful response. But she's invested now.]
I, um... I never really got a chance to know her that well, actually. But she taught me a lot about the fairies from her world.
Were you... really close?
[She hopes she's not being too nosy. She's just curious.]
no subject
Aye, we were bonded. [ Beyond that, even. ]
no subject
I mean, um... you know what I mean.
[Losing someone close to you is bad enough. But also, as monsters, they have... more practical things to worry about too, if they lose someone bonded to them.]
no subject
[ A small shifting sound, another sigh. ]
Don't let anyone ever tell you that time or abundance makes such things easier.

[He assumes such a reaction would only make sense, as he'd probably do the same if Yosuke was gone.]

I didn't know Zelda personally, but I've heard a lot about her. You were lucky to have her as a bond. Are you from the same world as her?
no subject
[ A small hum. ]
Perhaps that is why our bond worked so well.
