It’s my birthday! Second time I have celebrated one in Aefenglom. Time really flies! Hard to believe I have been here for more than a year already! :D I hope I can celebrate with everyone next year as well!

[Yeah, on the topic of celebrating with everyone...]

This year I will not be able to celebrate with two of my dear friends, the musicians Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Antonio Salieri. For those of you who knew them and attended the performances at the opera house... To my best knowledge, they are not in Aefenglom with us anymore. I felt the disappearance of both of my Bonds with them so unless something unknown is going on, it is safe to say that they have returned home. I am going to miss them but I am also happy to have been able to spend the past year with them.

[She is definitely not upset or at least is not going to show it.]

Happy Birthday.

[Exclamation points are too emotionally draining right now. And he's a little distracted by the idea that Mozart was here? What the hell is this place even...

The thought of a birthday is a complicated one for him, because it requires thinking about the future. Even so, his watch from home tells him he'll be eighteen in several days...]

Are you just using Aefenglom's calendar? It's really similar to the one back home for me.

[That'll sure be a realization!]

Yeah. It was almost December back home when I was brought here last month. It's strange to think of this place as some kind of alternate Earth, but at least it makes things easier to remember.

[He wouldn't expect a different planet to have a "Victorian, but make it folklore" feeling, but that's different realities for you, he guesses.]

They probably are. I live in America, and I'm guessing you're from France?

[Now that he actually, you know, looks at her username properly.]

It's hard to think about anything distinguishing about it, since I just think of it all as normal. It's a pretty big city, but it isn't exactly world famous like New York or anything.

Got it. I haven't been to either, but Germany was nice when I visited a few years ago. What do you like about France?

[Wait, hold on.

Like the queen? No, come on, that's probably so common for her it's annoying. You probably get this question a lot but Is that really better?? So with Mozart and Salieri, are you Where were you even going with that one, Ferran.]

I'm Ferran. It's nice to meet you too. [Nailed it.

Okay no, he has to know.]
What year are you from?

[He has to admit he was expecting a much simpler answer.]

At some point I'll stop being surprised by things, but I guess that's not today.

[At least he has his answer. Though he has to wonder if "heroic" is really the best way to describe her place in history? Not that magic has made any sense thus far...]

You're barely a year ahead of me, in the latter sense.
