[Come the evening of the 21st, a message pops up in words and sentences. Not a single letter is out of place. The script is formal and almost designed for an audience.]

It is a truth unfortunate that joyous times bring out those villainous souls who prey on the citizenry.

Bandits and cutpurses. Thieves who steal and contribute nothing. Should it be illegal to transmogrify those vermin into forms more suited for their crimes?

[The message falters for a moment; its sender considering his own question. Would he curse such boorish people? Yes. Would he were it illegal? Well, he ignores the fact he might have done so and continues.]

Rats, perhaps?

There is poetic justic in such literal representation if nothing else.

Oh yeah, boasting and gloating over misfortune -- both give good mileage. There's a big market lately in deliberate needling too, bringing up hot topics and watching people fight over it. People even get paid for it now, like a campaign thing. It's amazing the things people come up with these days, never would have guessed you could get paid to annoy people all day.

This concept surprises you? I know several people who make it their living to pester their betters. Some even indulge in it for sport. I ask only that they leave me out of such antics. Generally.

Oh, doesn't surprise me that they do it for sport. It's the paying bit that surprises me. Big business, apparently. Disappointed I didn't think of it myself.
