what i seek is simple: a monster to bond with and prevent further disaster to the both of us. it's mutually beneficial. why do they need to know anything else?

I'm still lacking in things that would make me most people's ideal friend or lover. But I'm loyal, strong, and determined. I can and will keep the madness that makes monsters go feral from you.

Ignis can't quite understand the mindset of the people who simply jump feet-first into these 'bonds', given the information that his research into their function has provided to him. They must seem so natural to the natives here, but to someone so used to keeping certain things private it feels... intrusive at best.

I must admit that is my primary concern. [Always so calm, so controlled, the thought of losing all of that and potentially harming someone as a result is far more unsettling than any implications a bond brings with it.] But while undoubtedly an arrangement of convenience, I don't think it would hurt anything to see if we have compatible personalities. A drink, perhaps? If you don't object.

[Of course neither of them wants to go mad or... explode, but making sure they can actually get along seems like a wise thing to do before doing anything permanent.]

[While Ignis, in his current situation, can't help but give too much thought to it. It's difficult for it to not become an overriding sense of dread, given his personality in its usual form, but he's managed to avoid that so far.
