Good morning. My name is Ignis Scientia; I've been designated a Witch here, for the purposes of magical classification.

What I'm looking for, before things get much further along here for me, is something of a study partner or group. I've been primarily focused on element-related magic, such as fire, ice, etc, particularly in the field of Enchantment and, recently, Evocation. I've an interest in Abjuration, and of course more universal spells of various low- to mid-level varieties. Eventually, I'd expect to be well-rounded in multiple areas.

If you're willing to spend time outside of the usual Coven classes working on these skills, please contact me. I'm particularly intrigued by those who've experimented with runes, as well as those applying magic to clothing, weaponry, or other objects. In addition, I'd be curious to hear from those who had different sorts of magic in your home world, and how you're applying that knowledge here.

Whether these meetings take a more academically-minded format or find better exercise in the form of something like sparring, I'm keen to do as much as I can.

I think a group would be perfectly fine, though I do hope for some to get individual attention out of it.

I'm highly interested in runes, considering a few of the things I'd like to be able to do that I could do at home. It's good to hear they have a higher success rate. I'm not really one for calling my shots, so to speak, so things like incantations aren't really my preference.

I am also a witch. I don't think I am a very good one but I've been focusing on runes and enchantments. If you are getting a study group together I'd love to join you.

Well, I've found a way to turn a pick of cloth into a cooler for picnics. [Her lips tug into a warm smile as she recounts of few of her exploits.] I've also inscribed runes into brooms and clothes to white down surfaces.

I'm the care taker of my home and many of my runes relate to the work I need to get done to make it go a little faster.

[She's very resourceful and using her magic like this keeps her sane and allows her roommate, who can't clean to save his life, to help.]

Runes, you say? Yeah, they're interesting.

Did you know they fell out of favor as main writing system quite recently? [ What is 300 years ago, it's like several generations... oh. ] You can write spells with whatever alphabet you want, but they kept them around in magic. Makes me wonder why.

Are they a shorter form, perhaps? Can one communicate more with a single rune than with a fully written word, or sentence? Or perhaps they carry some innate mystical quality. I have no idea; these are conjecture on my part, and why I'd like to learn more.

They look a lot like the runes my people used. If they got similar origins, that would mean they're based on trees.

[ And there are different trees here, so... It's a curious thread to follow, but he is looking into that. He doesn't have his hopes up though. ]

The magic here is more innate to your being, doesn't follow formulas and set of neat rules—
Maybe they kept them because it's a tradition. Maybe they kept them because they're pretty.

I am also interested in the Enchantment and Abjuration fields. I worked out the enchantment for protection from cold shortly before it became relevant in that caving expedition. Without it I would have suffered greater difficulty in there.

Pooling knowledge can be a benefit.

It's not nothing. Once you can blunt cold it's not difficult to reverse engineer for heat, as well - though in either case I think too great an extreme would overcome what I can do now. You didn't miss much, with the cave. We weren't given full intelligence on what was in them.

Sounds like a good idea. Practicing and casting on your own only does so much in some fields. [Like healing. It's not easy to practice on your own unless you hurt purposely yourself.]

I'd be up for sparring and need some more practice with my barriers. Don't have any experience with runes, but I'm willing to learn from others.

When are you planning to start these meetups?

I find the classes too short, and with the number of people, too general. I think it's better if people can choose what they want to work on and pool their resources, directing their energies into what interests them most.

I'm planning to start as soon as I can get a good ten or so people interested. I appear to be close. It may be enough, where it stands. Then, as soon as the weather clears a bit and people are less prone to play.

An incredibly good point. I personally forget that other worlds exist that seemingly have no form of magic whatsoever; my world did have some, but it was quite different from this.
