So, to ask that properly--I can't see the Cwild because I can't see. Is there something else about it I can notice before I'm infected?

Uh... Oh no, I've only run into it myself a few times! And... mostly in dreams. Hmm.

[He hums, tapping his chin with a bare finger in a soft clacking.]

The air was heavy and thick, and smelled a bit strange... when the whole area was infected. I don't know what to not-look for when it's a corrupted creature.

Not a problem with seeing it in dreams, at least. [Though he realizes with a sudden, sinking feeling that there's no reason it should stay that way, with the Fade out of reach and his magic along with it.

No reason to borrow trouble until he knew, though.] --But it smells off, maybe, all right. That's something to go on for now. I imagine the Coven's got spells for detecting it, too, [and boy does he sound miffed that that's completely useless to him.]

--This may sound a little mad, but did you have the dream about the burning forest or was that just us newcomers?

Ugh. No, it's not mad... I had that dream too. I think all the 'mirrorbound' did. [He says "mirrorbound" with air quotes, then shifts to a more educational tone.]

That's what we have in common... We had shared dreams, then touched mirrors, then mirrors kidnapped us to this world. [Maybe it's not the mirrors' fault, but it's hard to say.] The Coven's still figuring out what and why, we're a whole bunch of big mysteries.

But! They know loads more about the Cwyld. You should ask them for spells, smells, and other ways of detecting infection.

Oh, Maker; so that was prophetic. [He's put in mind of another fellow he met who'd claimed prophetic dreams never amounted to anything where he came from-- Pray the Maker that stayed true for the poor bastard.

Right. I'll put the question to them. But--another question for you about the dreams. Two questions: How often do they happen, and did you-- Three questions: Are you a Monster, and if you are, had you already begun changing into something?

[He holds off answering for a second or two, just in case further questions are getting added to the queue. When no more come, he coughs.]

Well! Let me answer these... in order? So, there's dreams, and there's other dreams... Two kinds of magic dreams, I think. The burning forest, with the people who might show up... And another kind, more laden in symbolism, or... something.

Second, I'm a Monster! You guessed right. I was already changing by the first full moon here... But I was totally normal back home! [The mirror magic isn't directly responsible for the changes.]

[He's beginning to get that sense. It's only a problem if Papyrus gets overwhelmed by all the questions at any given juncture and forgets to answer some of them.]

[Boy, he hates admitting it, especially in light of how his brother responded to his shifting in that first dream. No recognition to start, which turned to something far more pitying...]

With more every month since? That was around the... Huh. Every shared dream I've had was a few days away from the 20th here.

Huh. So it might be something to go on. [Though one person's experience isn't any kind of evidence for a trend, but... It takes away a little of the uncertainty of the whole affair.

And antlers were fairly unambiguous as changes went, if he thinks of what little he'd absorbed on the types of Monsters around...]
