Video )

Name: Nerissa Bell ([personal profile] andernach) & Mhairi Ainsley ([personal profile] fearolc)
Date: Septeril 1st
Format: Video

The video starts focused on a familiar face, close up until a differently familiar hand comes into the shot to set the watch down. Claws click on the outside of the surface, followed by both parties leaning back - then taking a proper step back to ensure both are in view. Miss Nessie looks as chipper as always, evidently still Delighted about this whole watch business, though there's a tightness around her eyes; Mhairi looks tense and decidedly displeased. It's more emotion than she's shown to the group at large, ears back and hackles raised, arms folded with a militant discipline behind her back.

"Hello, dearests! We hope today finds you well." Nessie grins a little wider, though it softens after a lengthy pause. "While we'd love for this to be purely for pleasure - believe me, we both would - we've some things to discuss today, we do. After the full moon last month, a missive arrived from Morgie - that is, Morgana Drummond, the head of the Coven over there in Dorchacht - asking about our..." She pauses again, briefer this time, her lips thinning as she continues. "Our 'lost luggage,' as she so kindly put it."

At her side, Mhairi's low voice outright growls, "After much back and forth, and discussions amongst Parliament, we've come to a decision that Drummond has... agreed to."

Nessie's smile continues to wane, and she leans against Mhairi. "And we're quite glad that she has, considering conflict with Dorchacht is not exactly ideal at the present moment."

With a deep breath, the Turnskin pulls back her disdain and focuses on the task at hand. "The Parliament has requested that the Coven send a group of dignitaries to Dorchacht to negotiate, and hopefully deescalate the situation. While we may not be able to immediately bring change, should things be as terrible in the waking world as it was in the dreamscape that you unfortunately faced, our best attempts will be made."

She pauses, and displeasure is obvious in the way she lowers her gaze and turns her head to look at Nessie. "... your best attempts. Because we don't know what may happen, or what hand Drummond and the Coven of Dorchacht might turn, I will be remaining here. Those that wish to do the same are welcome to, and I will do my utmost best to assist you and answer any questions you may have."

"While my lovely Mhairi does that, I'll be attending the meeting with Morgie - though I'm sure that's not a surprise at all, is it?" Nessie pulls away slightly, stepping forward in frame just a bit to spread her arms. "The dignitary group'll be handling all the real fun stuff - talking, seeing if there isn't anything to be done about this queer little situation that's come up, apologies when necessary, so on... I'd like to ask Morgie myself about how she's running her Coven, thinking on it," she pauses, then lowers her hands and steps back again. "And I know a few of you've been worried about it all, and wanting to help, so if any of you dearies would like to come along and play diplomat - show her things are right as rain and all, that we can all get along just fine even without what laws they seem to have in place - then I won't say no." She pauses again, tilting her head. "Might help, even."

"Relations between Aefenglom and Dorchacht are... tense," Mhairi adds, wryly. "Per their insistence and refusal, there's no means of direct transport between the two cities, teleportation included. We've tried to get an alternative up and running, something that has been in the Coven's possession for quite some time. The device is a little too risky for us to consider, however, as it's theoretical in execution. Perhaps a project for the more technologically inclined of the mirrorbound at a later date."

"I'd appreciate it, at least. That thing's one of our seven wonders in the Coven, it is."

"On the fifth, any who wish to join Ness and a handful of our finest Witches should meet at the port." Mhairi reaches and, finally unfolding her arms, curls her hand at Nessie's elbow. "My best wishes, travelers. Be safe."

Nessie returns the gesture, hand settling on Mhairi's; it's a little hard to tell, but she's rubbing the side of it gently. "Take care until next we speak, dearests."

NOTE This post will NOT receive any responses from Nessie and Mhairi. You can, however, use this post to interact with one another in the meantime.

[The commentary gets a quirk of Everett's head to one side, clearly somewhat taken aback. He speaks a bit rushed at first, clearly trying to get through some formality before asking what he's actually curious about]

I shall feel more at ease, given your presence- You go by druid, sir? That is what my people call our particular sort of magic users. I would not have guessed, given your appearance. Druids are all quite... obvious, among my kind. [they have giant flowers or plants growing out from them, it's very easy to tell a druid for what they are, in Myddvai, for better or worse....]

[ Oh, that's most curious of things. He would really like to know more about those druids— it's a professional curiosity. Also conveniently dodging the question posed, but he can address that later ]

You can't say that and do not elaborate. [ Most of the druids in his times were simply wrinkly and grey. ]

[On this topic, Everett is more than happy to elaborate. Mostly because it gives him an excuse to talk wistfully about Silas, much as that would displease the other man.

He'll never know, it's fine.]

Well, our Druids are known for having a gift from the World Tree. A plant or flower which anchors them to the source of all magic and allows them to tap into it. My childhood sweetheart became a Druid and has the most beautiful manifestation. A pair of pink lily flowers from his ears. Difficult to miss!

ooc: fck, I lost this one, sumanai

Yeah, our druids... didn't do that. Though they knew all the secrets of the forests and took care of the sacred trees. Mentors and teachers, they could cure diseases, lift curses and of course foretell the future. [ He doesn't realize he had slipped into past tense though ] Some, more dedicated to their craft were told to be able to change their form into whatsoever animal they chose or into stone.

But enough about the old, flowerless geezers. There is that "sweetheart" who sounds much more interesting. [ Give him all the gossip ] Should he ever appears here, I understand you are to know immediately?

Appear here? [.... Somehow, Everett hadn't considered the possibility that Silas could appear here. Why would he think that? Tricky to explain, without getting into far more than he wished. He doesn't really understand what happened to Silas. He'd been on his way to find out, then arrived here, instead.

Maybe it is possible? Everett can only imagine how upset that would make someone like Silas.]

I should want to know, yes. Having not seen him in nearly two decades, I don't believe him to be the man I once knew, anymore. But I would want to know. [he's a sentimental fool, regardless of any changes]

[ Caster lets out a thoughtful hum. ]

Two decades? Just how old are you? [ Asking the very important question. Childhood sweetheart could, of course, indicate they knew each other at seven— but you don't become a druid without training, and that usually takes some (if not a lot) time ]

I'm forty, sir. [he puffs a bit, because it doesn't really bother him to announce his age, but it seems like a lot when he hears it said. More than upset by the fact, his vanity is glad that it's difficult for other to tell.]

Last I saw him, we were just beyond our teen years. He hadn't long been realized as a druid, then, but his skill with healing magic was impressive. Our druids specialize in one of three disciplines... and they can turn into animals, though only one sort. And that is unique to every druid, just as their plant manifestation is.

[ Forty. That means Everett is what... like Fergus' age? Like an uncle?? He doesn't look his age, but that still makes Caster laugh a bit. ]

It's been so long and you still sound like you miss him. Watch out, it's all too easy to get lost in loves long gone. [ Look he can be empathetic. He sounds almost wistful as he is also looking far into past— ]

[

But that's over as he heeds his own advice ]

So a healer, and with an animal form... guess in all the worlds word "druid" have a similar meaning. There are even druids in this very world, did you know that, old man?

Ooh, don't start that with me, my boy. [If Caster plays him off as old, he'll playing the other man off as young. He'll bust out "laddy" and "whippersnapper" just to make a big, silly joke of it between them. They can't be all that far off, age wise.]

And druids... native to this place? I had not yet heard of that. Are they more similar to your understanding or mine?

[ Technically either around 14 years or 2000, depending on what is used by point of reference (age of death or counting in time of being dead, basically) ]

At least my bones are not creaking yet. Can't say about the local druids though. Heard they are a thing on the Gaerdegas, but none resides currently in Aefenglom. A shame, really.

Should you ever discover one, I should very much like to know of them. Or be granted an audience for myself. [he would be desperately curious, really, but Druids are of particular importance to his people. What connection might they have, if any, to the druids here?]

The magic I have as a faun is rather like the Providing Branch of Springtide Druids. Though, I can tell the source of the magic is very different.

Consider it done. [ They both have their reasons to look into that topic.

But hey, here is the interesting topic ]
I see, so you're using that magic in your garden?

[ To get ahead... ]

That I am! I've so far focused on growing tea and tobacco. Nothing quite so refreshing as fresh leaves for a morning drink or an afternoon smoke. [both are important to Springtide routines, though Everett only tends to smoke socially. Still, it's nice to have his own, handrolled cigarettes on hand, the perfect excuse to offer up and stand with someone to have a conversation over]

I've more than enough to share, if you enjoy either.

[ On that Caster has to agree. Fresh leaves (or flowers in some cases) are often better than dried. Though some do get their interesting effects only when dried properly—

The tobacco is a surprise. ]

So that's why your cigarettes smell different..! [ It is a terrible habit to have, yes ]

I will take you on that offer— when the storm brewing on the horizon is over.

[personal profile] rollfordiplomacy 2019-09-27 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha, yes, yes! A whole other taste and aroma to freshly grown tobacco. [there is a lot ahead of them, but no pain in thinking of the relaxation when the storm calms again]

I will share plenty, when we return. It will be a well earned reward.
