[Typing is terrible for someone not used to it (and someone not even that great at writing, at that): one attempt has been enough to convince Konoe never to try again if he can help it.
Video, however... is honestly creepy!? How do people get so small, and how can they be sure they'll get out of the watch again? He may be a cat, but he's not stupid!
So he tries for voice, even though he's not used to voice calls, either. He gets really close to the watch and pronounces everything a little slowly, overly clearly.]

[There, he did it. There's an audible sigh, of determination as much as relief, and then the feed ends.

Look, he's just trying to get some answers, here. There must be some pattern to who was pulled here through the mirrors and why!]

Trouble? [That's a pretty broad concept! Konoe won't keep pressing for details if this guy doesn't want to talk, but he at least has to ask once.]

Yeah. I was cursed for a while, though the curse got lifted just before I came here... or maybe on the way here.

Mm. We were chased out of town, due to an unfortunate misunderstanding. [Understating a little, but- well.]

In other words- you think it could have been art of coming here? That's curious. Might I ask what sort of curse it was?

Sounds like a pain.

[Understatement is an art form that Konoe can appreciate, even if he doesn't always practice it himself. If this guy isn't planning on telling more than this, that's fine. It's not like anyone owes Konoe their life story, anyway.]

My ears and tail turned black, and I got black markings on my arms and legs. Legends say that when a cat like that appears, the end of the world is nigh.

As a part of the curse? And so- I take it people assumed you were a harbinger of calamity, and treated you harshly for it.

Actually... not everybody did.

[An absolutely shocking number of cats had treated him no differently than before. They were appreciated... but they were also the exception.]

But a lot of cats would have wanted to kill me if given half a chance.

No? Well, that's certainly good news. After all, it doesn't sound like something of your doing.

It wasn't my doing. [He's pretty sure.] I was just living my life the way I always had.

Probably. Not that the legends say it would work, but people do stupid things when they're afraid.

Unlucky chance, then. [Well- maybe there’s some reason, but it doesn’t sound as though Konoe knows.]

Mm. They want to protect themselves, after all. Still- it doesn’t sound that simple, even if the legends deal with that. Is it something you’d wish to speak of?

It's not like I mind talking about it... but I don't know much more than what I've just said.

A fresh start... or something? [He's not sure he wants one, but he guesses he wouldn't mind one.]

Whatever it is, a lot of people got uncursed. And so far nobody's claimed to still be cursed.

It does seem that way, for some of us.

Good news for them! And rather interesting, I think…. I wonder if it has something to do with this world's magic.

Maybe. Considering how people can be brought back from the dead, I guess lifting a curse is no big deal.

[So why does he still feel so uneasy? Is he still not sure that his curse has really been lifted, or is it just that, if it has been lifted, this world's magic is far too powerful for him to be comfortable with?

There really is no winning, it seems. But if he's no longer cursed, he shouldn't be complaining.]

…from the dead? I hadn't heard that. [and it worries him- it hadn't ended particularly well, the last he heard.] I suppose it speaks to the power here.

Does it bother you?

Mhm. Some people died just before they came here.

Not really. As long as people end up actually alive again, with their own will, it's fine. [Had they been turned into zombies, it would have been a very different story.]

I see, I think. I suppose they wouldn't want to spread that news around…

That way… they're no different from anyone else who's lived. Then it's well enough, I suppose. [that is what he's worried about- but really, there doesn't seem to have been any evidence of that, right? So it's probably fine.]

It still makes you wonder why they were chosen.

[With the need to magically fix them up again, and presumably plenty of other people around, it doesn't seem very economical. But then -... He sighs.]

I guess the same goes for everyone, though.

[Maybe it really is just random, who ended up coming through a mirror.]

It does. But perhaps… it's a chance for them.

It's certainly something I'd like to know. I can't say I like the wondering.

[Too many questions, and no answers to be found anywhere. Perhaps someone should tell Konoe about that saying involving a cat and curiosity, but it would likely only make him snoop more.

There's just one problem.]

I don't know where we're supposed to find answers, though. If even the Coven doesn't know...

Then presumably the answers are outside of what the Coven knows at this time. We'd have to search them out.

If even they can't find out, I don't know how outsiders like us can.

[He feels like he's going around in circles on that particular topic since he first started thinking about it, though.]

There's not much to do but wait and see, probably.

And how are we supposed to find out where they don't want us nosing around - just walk in wherever we want and see if we get thrown out?
