[Typing is terrible for someone not used to it (and someone not even that great at writing, at that): one attempt has been enough to convince Konoe never to try again if he can help it.
Video, however... is honestly creepy!? How do people get so small, and how can they be sure they'll get out of the watch again? He may be a cat, but he's not stupid!
So he tries for voice, even though he's not used to voice calls, either. He gets really close to the watch and pronounces everything a little slowly, overly clearly.]

[There, he did it. There's an audible sigh, of determination as much as relief, and then the feed ends.

Look, he's just trying to get some answers, here. There must be some pattern to who was pulled here through the mirrors and why!]

[Konoe probably shouldn't sound so excited, forgetting all about his determination to Speak Very Clearly, but there he goes. There really is a large percentage of the mirror people who were cursed at some point! What if it's a pattern?]

[ it was harder for eren to determine if he was still “cursed”, but.
with lack of power said curse comes from, it’s a little more believing. ]

[Hng, another reason to be unsure about whether or not he got rid of his curse. He hadn't even thought to check with the infirmary. Now he feels he should, but... he's also not sure he's ready to get a definite answer.]

But the signs of the curse are gone.

[ he doesn’t want to make him uncertain. there’s a pause. ]

It’s different for me. I don’t have signs to look at.

[Konoe could never be absolutely certain that his curse is gone, even with all signs of it having vanished. There's just no way to know for sure - but he's pretty sure he got away from the demons, here, anyway. That feels like a good sign.]

... What kind of curse did you have?

[He's deliberately using the past tense, less in optimism than in an awkward attempt at support.]

[ solidarity, he supposed? he was subject to this the minute he responded, so long as they don’t dwell on it. eren, for one, doesn’t seem to say it with any melancholy. ]

A shortened lifespan. [ with great power comes great responsibility but, he doesn’t need to tell that long ass story to strangers. ] What about you?

[Konoe isn't about to press for more information - not unless he considers it really important for some reason. Otherwise, it's none of his business, is it?]

My ears and tail turned black, and I got black markings on my arms and legs.

They say when a cat like that appears, it will bring about the end of the world.

Even Konoe can admit that his habitual lashing out isn't always very productive, so he does, in fact, try to calm down enough to have a normal conversation, though he's still offended on multiple levels.]

I'm not one of those Cats - the small ones. We all talk just fine.

[ honestly— he shouldn’t be so surprised after walking through a mirror and into a magical world with magical creatures, but here he is. still god damn surprised. ]

[The power of voice-only communication: it leaves a lot to the imagination. Probably too much.]

I got fingers and arms and legs. A nose and eyes, too.

[Konoe shouldn't be so offended when he was pretty shocked to see all the humans around here when he'd never encountered the species before, but superficial anger and/or disdain is always so easy to slip into, even if it never only rarely goes beyond the superficial.]

And I got a tail and ears - proper ears, not nubby naked ones.

[ all he can imagine right now is a cat with fingers instead of toe beans and, while it’s . . . crazy, it’s interesting. ]

So where you’re from— cats are the norm. [ he says it more to himself, as if to validate the idea. the comment about the ears gets him a minute to connect to dots. ] You’ve never seen a human before here?

[That's easy enough to reply to: not only is it the truth, but it's nothing to be embarrassed about. If anything, Konoe finds strength in this truth, as if it defends his existence.]

... And monsters, and demons. [He adds that on a little reluctantly, only because people got confused about it before. It was almost all cats, is the important part!]

[ demons, he knows. like— by word of mouth, actual devils was in some story or other about his very existence. ]

[That's fine. Konoe always sorta kinda presumed that demons were mostly imagined up in stories and dreams, before four of them decided to visit him. Monsters are a little different.]

No, not like that. They're more like wild animals, except much bigger and more destructive. They can't be talked to, let alone reasoned with.

[Pro...bably..... Possibly not, all things considered, but even if that's true, he doesn't know any better than that monsters have always been monsters... and demons have always been demons.

Trying to see if there’s a pattern for us ending up here, somehow. With the Cwyld to deal with. [ a beat ] It’s similar for a lot of us.

The monsters are?

[Somehow, that is a pattern Konoe hadn't been looking for, if only because... well, monsters - his world's version of monsters - may not be something you want to run into, but they're completely normal to him. He'd been more focused on the rare cases, the exceptions.]

More or less. If there aren’t some sort of monster, there’re people that turn into them.

[ at least. as far as he’s noticed. ]

It’s a hunch that they’re related, though.

[It's an interesting theory. Konoe still boggles over the idea that there might be worlds without monsters, though.]

But isn't that too common? It's like saying that we're all from a world with a sky, or trees, or moons.

They shouldn’t be common. That’’s the difference.

Who decides what should be common, though? I'm the only person from a world full of cats, but that's still common to me.
