When considering patronising a shop, do you prefer when it has a name that makes it easy to understand exactly what is offered there, or one that is "creative"?

sometimes it just feels like false advertising

How do you feel about a store that has a less obvious name, but underneath the main sign is a smaller sign that briefly explains services? Would that help or be distracting?

as long as it's just clear what the store is for, then it doesn't really matter how creative or uncreative the name is
although you might have to print more words in advertising then, right

I did not, however, consider advertising...
[ damn. how are they going to advertise?? something else to think about. what a headache, already. ]
I suppose either way, it would need to be explained. I was just trying to prove to my business partner that it makes more sense to have a shop sign that makes it clear what services it offers.
Thank you for your input. That's very helpful.

not to be rude or anything
[ .. well. Technically. She's just being blunt, and that just happens to be rude sometimes, okay! And she's on Waver's side of the argument here anyway. ]
but that doesn't exactly sound smart

[ Now Waver's being rude. Kind of. He means it literally: they weren't real words! ]
Something about being 'poetic'. It's not a terrible idea, but I think it's important to be clear about it -- more important to be clear than to be creative, in any case. So I thought casual polling might be a good resource.

i mean not being upfront about what you're selling just makes it sound like you've got something to hide
threadjacks here because why not
Genuine question here! Do you consider the majority of the business in Aefenglom to have scummy names. Just going by the part-time job board, there are a lot of names of the kind:
Leeches and Lycanths
RoseBush
To the Wick
The Daisy Chain

most of the shops here sound like something straight out of a film where the protagonist would go to some backstreet to get some shady stuff
[ Although that may or may not mostly just have to do with Asahi just distrusting everything by default.. ]
no subject
[ Maybe because no movies to show the shadiness ]

the people here all have got to be weird considering the kind of world they live in
names normal people would find weird probably are just the usual to them
no subject
How would you define "normal people"?
no subject
Maybe you misunderstand. It's not meant to trick anybody. It looks like he's already speaking for himself though.

[ Read: She's just overly paranoid.. Don't worry, poor grandpa Waver. ]
even if it's not the intention behind the name it's still what i'm going to think whenever i see it
but i guess other people might have different opinions [ You.. 'guess', Asahi.. Opinions are always different from person to person, that's why they're opinions! ]

maybe you'll see me around in your store one day if it ends up having a normal name
