QUESTION:

When considering patronising a shop, do you prefer when it has a name that makes it easy to understand exactly what is offered there, or one that is "creative"?

Thanks in advance.

i really hate it when places don't make it clear what you can get there
sometimes it just feels like false advertising

that would definitely be a lot better
as long as it's just clear what the store is for, then it doesn't really matter how creative or uncreative the name is
although you might have to print more words in advertising then, right

does your business partner think the opposite makes more sense then?
not to be rude or anything

[ .. well. Technically. She's just being blunt, and that just happens to be rude sometimes, okay! And she's on Waver's side of the argument here anyway. ]

but that doesn't exactly sound smart

you should just tell him those poetic names usually only sound super scammy
i mean not being upfront about what you're selling just makes it sound like you've got something to hide
futhark: (curious)

threadjacks here because why not

[ Waver he sees you... ]

Genuine question here! Do you consider the majority of the business in Aefenglom to have scummy names. Just going by the part-time job board, there are a lot of names of the kind:

Leeches and Lycanths
RoseBush
To the Wick
The Daisy Chain
integrous: (tell those stories to me)

oh definitely
most of the shops here sound like something straight out of a film where the protagonist would go to some backstreet to get some shady stuff

[ Although that may or may not mostly just have to do with Asahi just distrusting everything by default.. ]
futhark: (relaxed)

[personal profile] futhark 2019-12-05 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
But they are getting customers at the regular. Wouldn't that mean that the populace here doesn't bear such association?

[ Maybe because no movies to show the shadiness ]

probably
the people here all have got to be weird considering the kind of world they live in
names normal people would find weird probably are just the usual to them
futhark: (hood; smirk)

Huh. You're a curious one.

How would you define "normal people"?

that's just my first impression when i see a name like that

[ Read: She's just overly paranoid.. Don't worry, poor grandpa Waver. ]

even if it's not the intention behind the name it's still what i'm going to think whenever i see it
but i guess other people might have different opinions
[ You.. 'guess', Asahi.. Opinions are always different from person to person, that's why they're opinions! ]

no problem
maybe you'll see me around in your store one day if it ends up having a normal name
