When considering patronising a shop, do you prefer when it has a name that makes it easy to understand exactly what is offered there, or one that is "creative"?

You're right that they're not mutually exclusive. I was just wondering if there seemed to be a common preference. Surprisingly, several people have mentioned puns. I'd have thought such a thing would be more likely to drive people away, not entice them...

here's my pun theory.

regardless of whether you like puns or hate them, they grab your attention. someone who likes puns might see a name with a pun in it and be excited to go in because they find it creative and clever. someone who hates puns might roll their eyes, but they're still more likely to go in than before because their attention's been caught. it's a pretty effective strategy.
