lol heads up if you try to make a candle w food coloring, the food coloring will just sink to the bottom of the glass, and when the flame eventually reaches the bottom all the food coloring will catch fire and become one giant tall flame that you cannot possibly blow out and the glass will start to crack and then you’ll throw your tea on it in a panic and then the extremely hot food coloring will boil and sizzle horribly and then the glass will shatter. please take my word on this lmfao.

[ Berserker appears on his doorstep a few minutes later, as he said. He looks...cranky, more cranky than usual. ]

[ flat opens the door, a sheepish smile on his face. ]

Cu! [ a pause. oh no. ] You’re really angry aren’t you?

I'm not angry. I'm annoyed.

[ It would be much worse if he were angry. ]

[ oh he knows this is directed at him. he’s leaning against the doorframe, which gives cu the chance to go inside. the place is clean, but it doesn’t really look like someone lives there...it’s more as if someone just took refuge there.

at least there’s no glass. ] I hear tea is good for calming people down! Do you want some?

[ There's no glass, but it barely looks like a lived-in apartment. Berserker steps past him, looking around in disbelief. The offer of tea almost goes unheard as he stands in a daze. ]

...What? Tea? If you want to make it, do it.

[ He shakes his head as starts to comb through everything in the apartment, looking for and collecting anything that can be used to spark flame or start a fire. ]

He got really angry that I kept my place a mess, so I tried really hard to clean up.

[ flat can sense the disbelief in cu’s words and posture. he closes the door behind him, leaning against it to watch the dragon comb through.

what he’ll find is that... there’s not much of anything. the living room has a chair that functions as a coat hanger, and a gas lamp on the floor by the corner. in fact, the corner is the only place that really looks lived in, if only because of the papers and books that are stacked and the blanket that is neatly folded.

the kitchen, however, is... definitely the strangest place out of every part. where there should be jars of spices and sugar there are jars that are filled with a variety of stuff. some are edible, like tea leaves and peanuts... others are...clearly not meant for consumption. Or for being in an apartment in general.

there’s a plate and silverware for one person though! and a kettle!

flat stands nearby, tilting his head in curiosity. ]

[ Berserker is utterly baffled still as he rifles through everything in search of further flammables. ]

No. Unless you have anything to start a fire with that I haven't found yet.

[ there's a box of matches, but by it there are some papers with some very crude drawings and something that can either be ciphered text...or mere scribbles. who knows. ]

[ He takes the matches and only gives a passing glance to the papers. ]

I mean are you going to be able to...not act like a wild animal living in someone else's house?

[ Flat's offense gets him nothing but a blank stare in response. He calls 'em like he seems 'em. ]

I can't control the fact I hoard bones. I keep them in one place and my hoard doesn't inconvenience anyone.

[ he opens his mouth to refute cu further, but he can’t find how. eventually, he crosses his arms, looking away. ]

I mean, aside from the candle thing—which I don’t plan on doing again—is it that big of a deal?

If you're living alone in a hovel and never have visitors, no it's not. If you're living somewhere subject to the rules of society, then yes it is.

[ He is ... not even trying to spare Flat's feelings here. ]

[ the comments hurt quite a bit, and flat’s expression visibly deflates as he leans against the wall. ]

I’ve never really had that issue before...but no one really liked going into my room in the first place. So yeah, I guess this is my first time moving in with others.

[ and he has a bad feeling about it, like he’s being set up to fail. it makes him anxious—perhaps cu will get fed up with him and kick him out after some time. who knows? ]

[ As neutral as his tone is, there is something bizarrely encouraging about his words. ]

[ the oddly worded encouragement actually works to get flat's mood up, at least by a little. it's that stubbornness from cu, the way that he says that he'll keep pushing him, that relieves those worries.

he laughs softly, giving cu a grin ]
