Name: Hresvelg (Edelgard von Hresvelg)
Date: 3/4
Format: Video
[A video feed flickers to life in the early evening, not long after sunset. The focus is briefly on Edelgard, dressed in a crisp looking white shirt with a high collar. Her hair is down, her crown set aside for the moment. She smiles, offering the viewers a quick nod, before speaking]
Good evening. My name is Edelgard, for those of you who do not know me.
[She clears her throat and the video lurches in unpracticed hands. Turning down towards a dog that's peering curiously up at the watch. It's jaw hangs open a bit in a doggy smile, but otherwise it doesn't seem too bothered by the device.]]
I was wondering if this dog belongs to anyone. He's remarkably well trained, and I believe he's escaped from his owner, but there was no collar. Unfortunately, he seems to have taken a shine to me after I found him rooting around in my garden two nights hence, and he's been trying to follow me indoors.
[She sighs.]
Asking him to sit yields results, but he won't leave. I confess I've little experience with dogs, and if he doesn't belong to anyone...does anyone know if such behavior is normal?
Thank you for any information you can provide. I can meet you somewhere if you'd prefer not to use the watches or want to see him. I await your-oh! Goodness!
[She cuts off as the dog moves suddenly, tail wagging as it decides to get closer, feeling more friendly.]
...Response!
[That strained, croaked out word is the last before the feed cuts out.]
[OOC Note: The dog belongs to nobody, and ultimately she's going to be convinced to keep it. Additionally if you'd prefer in-person threads, just let me know in your subject line and we can work that out!]

[Cat-temper.]
no subject
[Cat fights were no easy thing to break up, even if they were relatively mild and between littermates.]
There is enough people in your house to keep an eye on them until they get familiar with each other, so that isn't an issue. There will always be someone around even if you aren't.
[For obvious reasons.]

[An inexorably losing battle.]

[He chuckled.]
...It's good to see you well, and not in difficult circumstances.
no subject
[Her sweetness is an ineffable force...]
And yes, thank you. I appreciate it.

It would be nice to have tea again with you, whenever you're able. I... did manage to find someone after everything that happened last month, but she seems more isolated than I had anticipated. Introducing Lapis to more people might do her some good. Or, at least, she might have more people with different world views to ask questions of-- and she has many questions.
[In some ways, dealing with Lapis was like dealing with a precocious and bratty debutante with a stubborn streak. The questions she asked always took him by surprise... and sometimes left him speechless.]

[Edelgard sits up a bit straighter.]
I'd be glad to meet your friend. And to have tea. Tell me about her?

[Lorenz said, his tone one of admiration for the person he was describing]
So much so that, when we had the opportunity to Bond in the wake of the abductions, I hesitated out of concern about being overwhelmed by the strength of her person.
no subject
[Because that's...quite...an endorsement.]
no subject
[He said honestly.]
She is far older than our culture in Fodlan, and is from a world completely foreign to us on many ways...
And she describes herself as a sentient gemstone. A Lapis Lazuli.

I do not think an immortal stone is so strange.
[She will look for this woman, clearly.]
no subject
But, regardless, you've my thanks.
[Really, truly, there were moments when he felt overwhelmed by the sheer bizarre nature of some of Lapis' questions. Another person who was reliable
and more capable than him in understanding the eldritchwas welcome.]Since her friend Peridot-- another immortal stone-- returned to their home, I fear that she may not have found many others to speak to. I've introduced her to Felix and Sylvain, but they are nothing more nor less than who they are.
She has a great many questions about how people live. Having more people to ask these questions to might help her find a better understanding.
no subject
[This is...perhaps...a pointed question. She knows how much of a philanderer he is.]
I'd be happy to help her, of course. Mutual understanding of our species is bound to be beneficial for all.
no subject
[That... Could get complicated if it were to happen.]
She likes her privacy, to be frank. She also might not understand everything he implies, since one of our first conversations was explaining that I wasn't flirting with her.
... Truly. I wasn't. Not that I am opposed, but I had put aside my search for a spouse since the outbreak of the war. No need to be searching here, either.
no subject
[There's plenty of reasons not to, really.]
...But getting close to people that way cannot hurt.
no subject
No, it cannot. It is only something that's natural for a great many people to do.

Lorenz stared at the feed, utterly at a loss for words as he tried to decipher what, exactly, this was. A geniune sentiment? A good hearted jest? Something different?
Fuck. He was normally good at this, but Edelgard was one of those people who evaded his perception at the best and worst of times.]
Uh, Lady Edelgard... if you're implying what I think you're implying, then I'll have you know that I've been comporting myself as a gentleman. There is a certain joy to be found in letting these... meetings to happen organically, but the moon shifts have a way of clouding one's better judgement...
[He trailed, still lost for words. As uncomfortable as he was with how the Moons influenced their lives, it was difficult to allow himself to be in a position to be Someone's Unfortunate One Night Stand... and he was trying to reign in those base instincts!
...She knew. He knew that she knew, and embarrassment burned in his stomach at the realization.]
no subject
[She frowns slightly, sitting up and giving the dog a good scratching to make sure he doesn't interrupt her.]
I have no doubt that you've been doing your best, and that you've been a gentleman. I'm merely expressing the hope that you'll find someone.
[Oh, there's no harm in going on a little, is there?]
Nothing more. It's an experience I found eye opening, and that's all that I am saying.
no subject
Thank you.
I'm more than acutely aware that that my behavior while we were young made more than a few people uncomfortable. I have learned my lessons, and I had hoped you didn't think less of me because of those actions.
...Apologies for making assumptions.
[Time to extract that foot from his mouth. Pride was a touchy thing, as it always was, but there was no need for it in that moment.]
There have been people here that I'm interested in, but I've been... 'out of the game', as they say, for a little while. Not having the structures of our society in Fodlan hanging over us has also opened doors I didn't realize were available, and figuring out how to proceed has been somewhat daunting.
no subject
[That's her only advice.
Well, okay, no, she smiles and adds:]
And avoid any hot chocolate at festivals.
no subject
Had his timeline been different, he could certainly see ultimately siding with Edelgard. She was savvy, tactful, and charismatic on top of that.]
Wise words. Doubtless, the hot chocolate cannot be trusted.
no subject
[She rises slowly, waving to the watch.]
Another time, Lorenz.
