Name: Hresvelg (Edelgard von Hresvelg)
Date: 3/4
Format: Video
[A video feed flickers to life in the early evening, not long after sunset. The focus is briefly on Edelgard, dressed in a crisp looking white shirt with a high collar. Her hair is down, her crown set aside for the moment. She smiles, offering the viewers a quick nod, before speaking]
Good evening. My name is Edelgard, for those of you who do not know me.
[She clears her throat and the video lurches in unpracticed hands. Turning down towards a dog that's peering curiously up at the watch. It's jaw hangs open a bit in a doggy smile, but otherwise it doesn't seem too bothered by the device.]]
I was wondering if this dog belongs to anyone. He's remarkably well trained, and I believe he's escaped from his owner, but there was no collar. Unfortunately, he seems to have taken a shine to me after I found him rooting around in my garden two nights hence, and he's been trying to follow me indoors.
[She sighs.]
Asking him to sit yields results, but he won't leave. I confess I've little experience with dogs, and if he doesn't belong to anyone...does anyone know if such behavior is normal?
Thank you for any information you can provide. I can meet you somewhere if you'd prefer not to use the watches or want to see him. I await your-oh! Goodness!
[She cuts off as the dog moves suddenly, tail wagging as it decides to get closer, feeling more friendly.]
...Response!
[That strained, croaked out word is the last before the feed cuts out.]
[OOC Note: The dog belongs to nobody, and ultimately she's going to be convinced to keep it. Additionally if you'd prefer in-person threads, just let me know in your subject line and we can work that out!]

There's such an urge to come over and pet the dog but... he doesn't want to seem overbearing. ]
I believe he's already feeling fondness towards you. Have you fed him something? That might be another factor.

[Edelgard has managed to get into a seat on the porch, with the pooch's head snuffling at her bellybutton area. Clearly just being a dog.]
I gave him a few scraps the other night when I came outside, but nothing more than that. He hasn't begged or whined. It's strange.
no subject
Perhaps he was abandoned, and didn't realize it yet. He might have mistaken you as one of his owner's friends.
[ Honestly, other than that, he's stumped. It'd be quite infuriating if the dog had been abandoned, though. ]

He's still around, huh?
[She couldn't hide the fond tone in her voice.]

...He won't go away.
[Edelgard has, by now, managed to sit down on the porch with the dog nosing at her lap.]
I'm not sure if I should be flattered or annoyed.

If he's trying to sneak into your home, your only bets are to get him to a good home, or surrender to the inevitable...
Once he starts stealing food off your counter, it's all over.
[He considers himself something of an expert, between his experience with previous intrusive dogs, and now being something of a dog himself.]

What a handsome boy! I can't imagine he's a stray with such friendly manners.
no subject
No, that's why I am hoping to find his owner. He's too well behaved, and too clean.
[Mostly, he is still a dog.]

If you have already shown the dog kindness you will have difficulty getting the little opportunist to leave you alone.

[Edelgard's reply is a bit strained as she pushes the hound off of her and sits up.]
I confess that I have fed him, and certainly haven't been unkind to him.

Do you know nothing about dogs? This is just what they do. You won't be able to get rid of him now.

This one reminds me a touch more of a person than an animal, though.

Aw, I hope you find the owner! He seems like a really good boy.
[Sora nods several times.]
But you know? Sometimes they say the dog picks the owner. So maybe he's picking you instead! It kind of seems like it!
no subject
[She's presently shoving him off, of course, because he's very excited for some reason.]
...And if he's picked me, that might pose a problem as I already have a cat.

(The white kitten originally named Lysithea is now called Princess. The lack of personality traits with Duchess Salvatore helped Leslie resist calling her Duchess, but she liked the sound of it so went to another -ess title.)]
I think he wants to belong to you. Wouldn’t he have gone home if he had somewhere like that already?
[There is no ulterior motive to suggesting this how dare you accuse Leslie of liking the idea of another fluffy member of the household.]
no subject
...Wouldn't...that be a bad idea...[Shove, shove.] for Heidi and your new kitten?
[Hopefully it was never introduced as Lysithea, that would be too odd.]

[As a fellow cat person who had rarely had the priviledge of actually being responsible for an animal on his own, that was the extent of his knowledge.]
That may not be such a terrible thing though. You'll always know when you have visitors.

[She sighs audibly, rubbing the bridge of her nose on the video.]
He was hungry and I had scraps I was taking out to the rubbish heap. And it was raining. I think anyone with a heart would have done the same.

Have you checked it's ears? I've heard that some farmers mark their cattle there, it might be the same for dogs.
[She wasn't sure. She'd spent a lot of time with horses, chickens before that but dogs were pretty new to her.]
no subject
I haven't. Though, now that you mention it, no. There's nothing like that.
[Which is good.]
I don't know how common it is to brand dogs though.
