Name: Hresvelg (Edelgard von Hresvelg)
Date: 3/4
Format: Video

[A video feed flickers to life in the early evening, not long after sunset. The focus is briefly on Edelgard, dressed in a crisp looking white shirt with a high collar. Her hair is down, her crown set aside for the moment. She smiles, offering the viewers a quick nod, before speaking]

Good evening. My name is Edelgard, for those of you who do not know me.

[She clears her throat and the video lurches in unpracticed hands. Turning down towards a dog that's peering curiously up at the watch. It's jaw hangs open a bit in a doggy smile, but otherwise it doesn't seem too bothered by the device.]]

I was wondering if this dog belongs to anyone. He's remarkably well trained, and I believe he's escaped from his owner, but there was no collar. Unfortunately, he seems to have taken a shine to me after I found him rooting around in my garden two nights hence, and he's been trying to follow me indoors.

[She sighs.]

Asking him to sit yields results, but he won't leave. I confess I've little experience with dogs, and if he doesn't belong to anyone...does anyone know if such behavior is normal?

Thank you for any information you can provide. I can meet you somewhere if you'd prefer not to use the watches or want to see him. I await your-oh! Goodness!

[She cuts off as the dog moves suddenly, tail wagging as it decides to get closer, feeling more friendly.]

...Response!

[That strained, croaked out word is the last before the feed cuts out.]

[OOC Note: The dog belongs to nobody, and ultimately she's going to be convinced to keep it. Additionally if you'd prefer in-person threads, just let me know in your subject line and we can work that out!]

I only meant—

[ But he cuts off, hissing between his teeth. She's not wrong, exactly. Despite his impatience for politics, he's always at least had a knack the downstream effects of abstract decisions, the gritty side of who they harm or help and how. If the people of this city lose spirit, the battle will already be half-lost.

He knows the consequences of crumbling morale all too well. ]

Bah. Forget what I meant. Do as you will—I only worry what will happen when the sickness at our outskirts is seething against our Wall, and if it will crumble just like the one up north.

Your confidence is admirable.

[ Said flatly. He's not at all convinced. He's seen enough working with the Wilders, day in and day out, he can't say for certain what this city's future will look like. ]

Maybe we should start searching for all the facts. Whatever brought that settlement to its knees, we ought to know about it, to stop it from happening here.

Ah.

[ Whatever else he'd meant to comment, it's lost with the realization that they're likely to cross paths again soon, in person. ]

...I intend to do whatever I can to aid the Wilders with their continued work at the outpost, as well. They've got a good start underneath them, but it's hardly safe up there yet.

[ Oh, he knows. He's not worried about her. He's worried about the civilians working on it—the craftsmen, the scouts, the people who may yet run into danger outside the outpost. ]

Good. See to it that the rest of them remember what's at stake. I'll expect to see the results in the future.

...Farewell, Edelgard.

[ She's still not getting the commitment of until next time, but hey, a polite goodbye is some progress. ]
