Seeking anyone with an interest in insects:

I have been reading a guide about the various insects found throughout the city. And as the weather has been warming up, I have been surveying to see what I can find.

I have so far found the following:
A giant snail
This rather cute poodle moth
and this tarantula.

I also came across this rather... curious looking specimen but, my book has no information as to what it could be. If anyone has any suggestions I would be most interested to hear it! I would also be interested to hear about any bugs you come across.

tbh I've never met a moth I didn't like. Except for the ones that dive-bomb you when you're standing under a streetlight just having a smoke. Then they get their fairy dust all over your black t-shirt and can't fly anymore. And somehow make you feel guilty even though you were just minding your own business.

I... regrettably, do not. If you would care to elaborate, I'm mildly fascinated by the prospect of 'dive bombing moths'

Hahahaha okay, like 90% of that was over-exaggerated.

But at night they fly around the nearest source of light, so when I was camping outside with my folks or smth they'd always smack into you by accident. bc we'd sit around a fire. Some of them would fly right into the flames, thinking it was safe and warm.

(which made him feel sad when he was little. he's hardened up now.)

They're only tiny things. Their wings have some kind of powder on them, but when it comes off they can't fly so well anymore.

Do you know what that's called?

Ah! I see, I see. Yes, it's rather tragic they're drawn to light sources such as fire. It's the unfortunate result of the method they use to navigate.

As for the powder on their wings, they're actually very tiny scales! And they serve a few purposes, including aiding the moth in flight and providing pigmentation on the wings.

So far yes. I actually prefer voice calls myself, but. As you say, texting gives a little more functionality and freedom. Have you been in this world for long?

It's so much. ik we're all in a romantic era fantasy land, but I've been secretly keeping track of this stuff in Earth months. Like Februrary, March, April..... don't tell my professors or they'll turn me into a newt or smth (figuratively😉😉).
