Hello. I have met some of you but I know that there are many of you who I have yet to come across. My name is Justine. I am not a fighter, like most of the people brought here, but I hope to sell the skills I do have. I was a caretaker in my previous life. I can cook, clean and fix minor tears in fabric.

I can also crotchet and I'd be happy to take commissions to those who wish to get a head start on winter. [Ignore the fact that it's spring.]

If money isn't an option, I would also be interesting in trading. I would like to learn to fight but if nothing else we can come to some sort of arrangement. I am a witch and once I perfect my potion making, I hope to sell those as well.

Justine! I'm glad to hear that you're keeping well. Though I'm not sure I have anything that you could help with, I am a little curious about the kinds of potions you're planning on selling. I hadn't realised you were an entrepreneur in the making.

[She struggles against the smile stretching across her lips. Justine recognizes Lancer's voice and she might be a little happy to hear from him.]

I wouldn't call myself an entrepreneur. Just trying to get by. [She doesn't have that many useful skills.] I haven't put a lot of thought into it yet. I was hoping to see what might be the most useful. I'm still... learning.

Maybe you can help me by telling me what you'd like in a potion?

I'm not entirely sure. [He gives a soft, thoughtful hum.] Myself? I've no use for anything outside of healing salves and the like but maybe you might have better luck talking to the monsters of this city. They must have more... unusual problems than humans.

[ That sure is a familiar voice. ]

Hey Justine! It's good to hear from you. Now that you mention it— I am certain I saw an offer for someone with a hand for needlework on a board. Maybe that would be of interest for ya?

The potions sound like a good idea. You're enjoying alchemy?

Oh? I will take a look. Most of the requests on the board seem outside of my skill set. That is, without assistance. [Justine is very determined to be self relent but it's proving to be difficult.]

I am. It's calming and my roommate is also interested in alchemy. So we've been learning together.

I didn't really believe it at first but it looks like I'm a witch.

That is true but I can also focus on making potions that help when you're hurt. [That sounds like it exists.]

Or something to help you in combat? You seem like the type who enjoys fighting.

Hey! [ yang's voice is brighter and chipper than it was when she'd first arrived. this is a really kind offer, and well...her outfit could use a little sprucing up. it's got a few tears in it from battle, so... ]

Thanks for this. I'm Yang. I've got experience with hand-to-hand combat if that's what you're looking to learn.

[Her voice is light and warm when she replies back.] I could honestly use help with a little bit of everything.

[She might not be any good at it but she won't know until she tries. As it is, Justine is learning a lot that she'd never thought she'd be good at.]

Why don't we see how one lesson goes and go from there? [It's an easy compromise since this is the first time they've spoken.] What is it that you would like from me in return?

Yeah, sounds good. My offer might sound kind of weird since it seems like witches are more spell-based, but you'll never know when you might need it.

[ and she's no good at any of this magic stuff just yet. ]

All I need are a few repairs on my clothes. Nothing too big. Sounds good?

My pardon, but what is 'crochet'?

[Toby's voice is deep and guttral.]

It's looping yarn together to create something. For example I know how to make scarfs, hats and gloves. I can likely figure out more complicated pieces but I'd prefer to have a pattern first.

[The knitting store has some stuff she can use.]

It isn't so weird. [The smile is audible in Justine's voice.] I don't want to rely on only one form of fighting. I might be a witch and human in every other respect but I think it's good to know many different skills.

[She also loves being under estimated.]

I can do that. When would you like to meet and where? I can offer my home to take a look at your clothes but that might not be a good place for a lesson. [She does have a yard.]

I think I'd rather fight and win or, if that is how it must be, die by my own skills.

[Now, if he were being buffed by either a Master or through magic of his own making, that's different. Does that make sense? Probably not but it feels like the most honorable compromise.]

But it's a grand idea. [a beat] ... am I really so transparent?

Not transparent. It's just something I picked up and you confirmed it just now.

[Her lips pull into a smile that can be heard in her voice as she continues.]

You're very honorable though. I doubt many here would do the same. I never did ask, are you a witch yourself? [Justine doesn't think it's a sensitive question.]

You flatter me. I merely follow the code that I lived by in my past life, as did all of my comrades.

[There's nothing to suggest that he thinks of it as particularly sensitive either- although he does sound a little sheepish.]

Mmm. I've been trying to get to grips with it- without much luck so far.

That doesn't make it any less noble.

[She pauses thoughtfully before continuing.]

Maybe in that regard we can help each other.

[Her voice takes on a wistful edge.]

I'm not a very good witch myself. [There is too much for her to over come to allow her thoughts full control over the power now thrumming through her frame.]

That's the spirit! [ time to learn how to ponch, justine! ] I like the way you think. I promise it'll be fun.

And...how about we take care of stitching first, then we can walk somewhere nearby to do some training?

[She laughs softly.]

I am honestly looking forward to it.

[She likes Yang's energy.]

I think that might be best. Once I take a look at the tears I can let you know how long repairs might take. Some I might be able to finish that day, if you don't mind waiting for a little bit. [Justine rather do it right so that the fabric is then harder to tear.]

Honestly? I'm just grateful you're willing to patch them up for me.

Just say when and where, and from there you can take as long as you need.

I have lots of time. Any afternoon will work.

That's how it seems, yes.

N-Not really. I'm just a high school student and... that's pretty much it!

[Justine's voice is light, warm and gently teasing.]

I was working for a rich family and that wasn't anything like this.

[Monika laughs, though for multiple reasons. She just lets the joke pass on by.]

I wasn't even doing any of that. Between classes, exams, and my club, I just didn't have the time for even part-time work.
